Amos Tarter Obituary

Tarter, Amos

Tarter, Amos L, age 93, of Dayton Ohio, passed away on April 18, 2024. He was born to the late Brent and Ada Tarter, March 18, 1931, in Faubush Kentucky. Amos graduated from Nancy High School in 1949, in Nancy Kentucky. He was married to Helena Fay Pierce (Tarter), November 2, 1950, who preceded him in death in 2011.

Amos was a Self-Employed Barber Stylist on North Main Street, Dayton OH, for 37 years. Amos loved being a Barber and meeting people. He was a very kind and generous person who loved the Lord Jesus and shared his faith with many people. He had a great love for his family and friends. Amos was one of fifteen children of which all but two brothers have preceded him in death. He is survived by his Son, Michael Tarter (Joyce) of Dayton; Daughter, Pamela Covey (Doug) of Dayton; Grandson, Andrew Tarter (Stephanie) of Dayton; Granddaughter, Amy Byrne (Zach) of Louisville KY; Great Grandchildren, Beau and Baker Byrne, and Madison Tarter; two brothers, Garnett Tarter (Sue) of Nancy KY; Lowell Tarter (Marietta) of Nicholasville KY.

Funeral Arrangements will be held by Newcomer Funeral Home with burial at David's Cemetery. Amos was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Temple, 1707 Ohmer Ave, Dayton OH 45410. A Memorial Service will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Temple with Pastor Jerry Siler officiating on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 2 PM in memory of Amos.

In memory of Amos Tarter. Simply put, Amos was a Godly person. His faith in Jesus Christ was most important to him. Yes, he cared about others as evidenced by things he did. Whether family or strangers, he helped others whenever he could. Though there is sadness in his passing, there is comfort in knowing where Amos is now. In the Bible, book of Daniel, God told Daniel to go thy way till the end, be at rest, and in the last days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance. For Amos, he too is at rest, spiritual rest, and will rise in the last days to receive his allotted inheritance in God´s dwelling place called heaven. The Bible says "make your calling and election sure". As evidenced by his sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to many people, there was no doubt of Amos´s salvation through Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us only those names found written in the Book of Life will enter into heaven. Without question, one of those names in the Lamb´s Book of Life is "Amos Lee Tarter". As one of God´s children, Amos is an heir of God, a co-heir with Christ, appointed to receive his allotted inheritance in heaven, where he will spend eternity. At a personal level, Amos loved so much his daughter, Pam. Days before his passing, he said to her "I don´t know what I would have done without you Pam". Those heartfelt words he spoke to his daughter were so genuine and sincere. May the peace from God be with those who knew Amos. As we remember Amos, we pray thanks to you God the Father, for your peace that transcends all understanding, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Doug Covey (son-in-law)
