Richard Rasche Obituary

RASCHE, Richard

Richard W. "Rick" Rasche, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 81, after a long illness. Rick is survived by his wife, Carolyn Block Rasche; his sons, David (Cindy) and Peter (Deborah); his daughter, Kat (Joe); his sister, Jan Remar; his granddaughter, Grace; and numerous other relatives. As a clinical psychologist in private practice, Rick's compassion and commitment earned him the respect and gratitude of many patients and professionals, including those he mentored in hypnosis. Rick was committed to a healthy lifestyle, ran 32 consecutive Peachtree Road Races and climbed Mt. Rainer for his 50th birthday. He maintained his sharp wit until the end. He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, gentle spirit, expansive thinking and unwavering dedication to his family. A memorial service to celebrate Rick's life will be planned for a later date.

I am so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I remember both Rick and Carolyn well from pre-COVID days when I was much more active in GPA than I am now. I don't remember for sure when I met them but I believe it was back in my GSU days, so around 40 years ago. Such warm, kind people. They always seemed like some of the "special ones" out of all the professionals I was meeting back then.

My condolences to Carolyn and Rick's children. My relationship with Rick goes back to SIU where we both worked at the SIU University Counseling Center during my internship many moons ago. When Rick moved to Atlanta we actually shared office space together for several years. Rick's sense of humor and quick wit was a hallmark of his personality. He was kind, generous and always a pleasure to be around. As often happens our times together over the years lessened but when we saw each other there was always a loving connection. We should all be as brave as Rick was to face the unfortunate adversity that befalls many but to continue to live life to its fullest. I will miss you my friend,
