Dr. Gannon married my husband and I 54 yrs. ago at First Baptist Avondale. My father-in-law physically helped build that church. Dr. Gannon and the church meant a lot to us. Every yr. on our anniversary he sent a personalized letter, it was not a form letter. They stopped, I can't remember exactly, but only several or so yrs. ago. He was a very important part of our life. We didn't see him except when he gave the service for my husband's mother, and a time or two after that but, we would call periodically over the yrs. A great man and he will always be in my heart. Ann Latham

I am greatly sadden to hear of the passing of Truett Gannon. From 1960 on he was my spiritual anchor in all parts and places my life has taken me. He was always my light. My most loving good bye.

Truett married my wife and me, and then continued to write us on our anniversary each year for many, many years afterward--as long as he was able, I suspect--with messages of heartfelt goodwill and encouragement. He was truly one of the nicest, most sincere people I have ever met, and a towering example of how to live and lead. The world is not the same without him.

Truett was the most caring pastor and friend. He made everyone feel like they were his very special friend. He seldom missed a day viviting my Dad in the hospital even with his schedule and other responsibilities. Then he did such a loving funeral. He always had a warm smile and cheerful word when he greeted you. Thank you God for Truett Gannon.

"Preacher" Gannon and his family had a profound and positive influence on my life. His ministry to me and my family, primarily at Avondale First, and later at Smokerise will never be forgotten. Great memories of summer camps, weddings and yes, funerals! What a man of God and witness for Jesus Christ he was. Our love and sympathy to Kenny, Karen and family.
