Josh,
I only today learned of his passing. He was my favorite professor during my college years at GSU.
He inspired me to LOVE Decision Sciences. He was a gifted teacher.
That Dept. had a number of "characters".
Geoff Churchill , I married his niece ( against his advice I might add)
I also crewed for Geoff in his SCCA exploits over several years.
Earle Steinberg.
I wouldn't call your dad a character per se, but he really was special to me.
When Churchill died his wife hosted a meeting of friends. What a wild mix of retired gsu profs and scca big whigs. I was outside and your dad arrived and I have no idea how he knew but his first words were of sympathy as he had heard of my second wife of 19 yrs had passed. I was stunned. He was a great human Josh.
I last saw him when I visited your? restaurant in avondale decatur shortly afte you opened it I think.
It was SO good to see him.
Last memory: His stat courses had many discussion questions on tests ( what stat "test" to use, why etc )
One test I received back from him had this written in red: "A+, An excellent discussion". Josh I kept that test for decades.
Anyway, I extend very tardy condolences. I loved ur dad.

Both my husband, Larry Fisher, and I had Dr. Elrod as a statistics professor in the Georgia State graduate programs, although not at the same time. What a wonderful teacher he was. He actually made statistics interesting! We will miss seeing him on our walks around Avondale Estates.

Will miss Papa Elrod immeasurably on my twice a year or so visits back to Avondale, either seeing him reading on the front patio and waving as I walk around the lake or getting those wonderful bear hugs if we got closer and spoke... condolences to Josh and his family.

Hello, Josh. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Whenever I think of Robert, I think of someone who lived life with gusto and never met a stranger. His and your mom´s hospitality was epic. I am so sorry that Greg and I will not be able to attend his life celebration as my mother passed away on Friday and we will be celebrating her life here in Charlotte, but know that you and your family and all those who loved Robert will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Robert is a friend to my neighbors John and Elaine Mizell. So when I complimented his hat while walking my toddler son around the lake with Elaine, he soon found out where I lived and brought me a tiny cap similar to his for my boy. What a kind act, what a wonderful way to live. I loved to see him around Avondale.
