McFann, Kenneth

Kenneth "Ken", "Mike" McFann, 73 of South Vienna, passed away, August 28, 2024, in Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 6, 1951, in Urbana, Ohio, the son to the late Clarence Henry and Alta Bernice (Syrus) McFann. Ken was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He served for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. On September 9, 1972, in Urbana, Ohio he married the love of his life, Deborah Whip. Ken retired after 40 plus years of service from International Harvester / Navistar as a welder. Ken was also a former police officer for the village of Mechanicsburg.

Ken was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sport shooting, drag racing, and tractor pulls. He was an accomplished taxidermist and multiple award winner for his taxidermy work including 1st place in the 2005 World Taxidermist Wildlife & Fish Carving competition is St. Louis, Missouri for an Arctic Fox. Ken was also an accomplished marksman, winning many awards in trap shooting and cowboy action shooting

He is survived by his children, Angela (Marvin) Smith and Jason "Mike" (Traci) McFann; grandchildren, Nicci (McFann) Clarkson, Cheyenne (Hahn) Casto, Logan (McFann) Barclay, Kristine Smith and Journey Smith; 4 great grandchildren; his sister, Helen (McFann) Whip; as well as 5 nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by wife, Deborah (Whip) McFann, his sister, Judy McFann and his brother, Roger Wayne McFann.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, Ohio

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, PO Box 1583, Merrifield, VA 22116-1583.

Services entrusted to SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.

I became a neighbor of Mike back in 1963, when I moved with my family to High Street in Mechanicsburg. Mike and I rode bikes and played a lot as kids.....Lost track of him after school...... So sorry to hear of his passing.....
