Caplinger, Joseph S.

Joseph Sheridan Caplinger died in his home on December 23, 2024. Throughout his 37 years, Joseph embraced life with enthusiasm. People responded to that enthusiasm and he is loved by too many to count. He always made time to help those who crossed his path. That willingness to step up and make a difference was true not only here in Springfield, but also as a member of the 178th Ohio Air National Guard. Joseph believed in meeting challenges. He was a lifelong learner and completed two master degrees: a Master of Science in Data Analytics and a Master of Business Administration. He was an avid runner and cyclist, and took great pride in being an athlete. He recently completed an Ironman in La Quinta Indian Wells, California. He placed 79th of 235 participants for his age group. Joseph is survived by his wife, Julia and his two children, Charlotte and Kyle. He was a loving and engaged husband and father and enjoyed family vacations and holidays. He is survived by his mother, Carol Lee Caplinger-Lemons, brothers Jeffery (Catie), and Troy (Meagan), and his grandfather James Caplinger. He is also survived by Julie's parents, David and Susan Franzen. Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life on December 31 at Richards, Raff, & Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield, Ohio.
