Helen McGinn Obituary
Age 75 of Fairfield, passed away January 14, 2025. She was born October 26, 1949 in Hamtramck, Michigan, one of nine children of Phillip and Lillian (Carlson) Jankowski. At the age of nine the family moved to Boyne Falls, Michigan. After high school she worked as a nurse aide at the hospital in Petoskey, Michigan until 1970. While working here she met and married James McGinn. After her marriage she moved to Cheboygan, Michigan where Jim was working at the papermill. While in Cheboygan she raised three children and when they reached school age she was a volunteer library and playground aide at East Side Elementary School from 1980 – 1989. With the P&G papermill closing in 1990 Jim, transferred to a position in Cincinnati, Ohio and the family moved to Fairfield, Ohio where they still live. She loved reading, cooking, baking and her chihuahuas and learned to really enjoy the renaissance festivals in the area. She is survived by her husband Jim, Children Lynn (Larry) Coggins of Cheboygan, Michigan, Jim Jr of Fairfield, Ohio and Cher of Fairfield, Ohio; Grandchildren Ashley and Samantha Coggins and Leila McGinn; Sisters Phyllis Marchinkewicz and Mildred Florenski and a Brother Ed Jankowski. She was preceded in death by her parents; Siblings Mary Kucharek, Betty Ann Genson, Delores Jankowski, Phillip Jankowski Jr, David Jankowski and her twin brother Wilbur Jankowski; a nephew Steven Jankowski and two nieces Nancy Kucharek and Delia Genson. There will be visitation at Avance Funeral home 4976 Winton Road, in Fairfield, Ohio from 5 – 7 Sunday evening 1/19/2025 from 5 – 7. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 on Monday 1/20/2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 400 Nilles Road, Fairfield, Ohio. Father Larry Tharp will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH. www.avancefuneralhome.com
