Mildred Doogs Obituary

Doogs (Heilman), Mildred Lucille

Mildred Lucille Heilman Doogs born, October 24, 1932 New Market, Indiana, quietly and peacefully, passed away at home Tuesday Jan 14, 2025. She was 92! Last fall, at the beautiful farm of nephew Kevin & Becky Heilman, she attended her family reunion in North Vernon IN. She had a great time and was honored for being the oldest one there!

Preceded in death by husband Donald Ray Doogs on February 22, 2004 and oldest daughter, Karen Jean Doogs Eilers on February 13, 2024. Also sisters and brothers as follows: Shirley Masingo, Betty Emily, Ralph Heilman, Paul 'Bud' Heilman, Annie Thalacker, Thelma Gelhouse, Margaret Caldwell, Martha Perry and Alice Sherfick & parents Carl William Heilman and Elsie Marie Hunt Heilman.

Survivors include daughter, Diana Lynn Doogs Roddy (Spfld) and son, John August Doogs (Spfld) and many special nieces and nephews. She was so proud of her 3 successful grandsons, Brandon W (Meghan) Roddy (UT), Kyle R (Angie) Eilers (IL) and Conor D Eilers (FL) and adored her two great grandsons, Domenic Alexander & Ian Patrick Roddy (both in UT). Also surviving is one brother, Carl (Henrietta) Heilman Jr and one sister, Margie (Wesley) Bear, both in North Vernon IN.

Affectionately known as Millie, Momma Millie and Silly Millie, she was a wonderful mom, Gramma, Great Gramma, sister, aunt, friend & neighbor. She will be lovingly missed by everyone who knew her! She still enjoyed a rousing game of euchre and loved watching the kids just being outside playing in the yard, running, climbing, playing soccer & baseball or swimming. She had a great spirit and loved life...always encouraging us to live it to the fullest; putting up with our many pets and anything else we'd drag home. We made numerous trips to Illinois, always toting a pet of some species. Our own dogs, a puppy for Kyle and Conor, kittens and Conor's white rat, Snowball! She rode along with us, hauling horses to and from Ohio to Illinois and back. She flew to Utah several times! She was up for any adventure. If one of us or our cousins got a new horse trailer or a new bathroom or anything in-between, she always wanted to see it and congratulate them! She went camping and trail riding with us a few times, sometimes as the camp cook! She retired from JCPenney following 19 years of service. She loved helping people, back when customer service was a real thing!

Our mom will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. There will be no viewing or service. Should you wish to make a donation in her name, please consider The Animal Welfare League Shelter on Willowdale Rd (Spfld.) or Day City Hospice (Dayton).

My family, Betty and Orville and Jim Welch lived across the street from Millie, Don, Karen, Diane and John for many years. The kids all grew up together and attended various functions at Greenon High School. Millie was a wonderful friend and neighbor.
