BALLARD, Phyllis, age 96, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. She was born February 24, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio and lived in the Miami Valley area all her life. Phyllis was a mother and homemaker. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an excellent baker, and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Emma (Buckley) Elmes; her husband, Herman Ballard in 2017; one grandson, Joshua Steven Ballard; two sisters, Emma Jean Rike and Mary Elizabeth Winterhalter; and one brother who died in W.W. II John D. Elmes. She is survived by one son, Steven Ballard (Jan), two daughters, Diana Gerdau (Harry) and Jennifer Cox (Tom); three grandchildren, Timothy, Phoenicia and Ethan; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, Ohio, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. with Celebrant Brian Morris officiating. Interment will be at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Dr., Franklin, Ohio 45005. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S.
