Dianne Maddox Obituary

Maddox (Mazzeo), Dianne Carol

Dianne Carol Maddox, 65, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. Dianne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Chuck Maddox; her children, Christine (Lucas) Martorana, Chuck Maddox Jr., and Alyssa Maddox; and her granddaughter, Sofia Martorana. She also leaves behind countless friends and loved ones whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Dianne was a woman who showed up fully for everything and everyone in her life. Driven by a compassionate, hospitable spirit, she truly led her life with love, generosity, and joy.

Dianne had a decades-long career in advertising sales, working for the Dayton Daily News and the Palm Beach Post, where she built lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike. After retiring, she continued to impact her community as a substitute teacher at Lake Worth Christian School. Faculty at Lake Worth Christian described Dianne as a powerhouse of a woman who was very beloved by teachers and students.

She loved being outside, and some of her favorite activities included walking, kayaking, gardening, and biking. She started most mornings with a brisk 3-4 mile walk. Her goal was to walk 600 miles in 2024, and she was proud to have met that goal mid-December! She also found great joy in gardening. Her yard was always alive with colorful flowers, a testament to her nurturing spirit, and she was titled a Master Gardener by a local arboretum for her yard in Miamisburg, Ohio.

Dianne's faith was central to her life. In 2024, she celebrated 50 years as a baptized member of The Church of Jesus Christ. She was also an ordained deaconess, a pianist, an organizer of kid's church, and a joyful participant in all church events. Not only did she make a point to travel near and far to be with her brothers and sisters in Christ, but she refused to just sit around when she got there. She was a joyful worker, truly living the Psalm that tells us to "serve the Lord with gladness." Her faith wasn't contained to the church building. She was always finding ways to care for those around her - inviting people into her home, visiting those in need, bringing food to the homebound, sending uplifting cards, and more.

She also showed her love through her baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary-so much so that friends and neighbors would pay her for dozens of cookies around the holidays, and they became a delicious, much-anticipated treat at family and church events.

Above all, Dianne treasured her family. Whether the time was spent around the table enjoying delicious food on a Sunday afternoon, playing Scrabble (and usually winning!), spending time on the boat on Lake Osborne, or worshipping together in church, she was the happiest when she was with her family. She especially adored her role as "Mimi" to Sofia, creating special memories by baking cookies, painting nails, and embarking on countless adventures that included fun art projects and holding baby kangaroos!

Dianne will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and the warmth she brought to everyone she met. Our lives will not be the same without her, but we know that our lives have been more full of joy and love because of her. We thank God for the time we had with Dianne - a truly amazing woman, wife, mother, Mimi, sister, and friend.
