Aunt Van,
There are so many things that I want to say to you & so many things that I didn't get chance to tell you. I think you know how much you meant to me & the 2nd generation of the Scroggins, you basically raised me, not to mention that you named me lol. You epitomize the saying, "The GOOD Die Young" by your favorite rapper 2 Pac. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you & all the things you talked to me about. I cherish & hold everything that you taught me close to my heart & will never let you down. I know there is nothing that can take away the pain I feel but I have to keep telling myself that you are in a better place. I love you more than life itself Aunt Van & I can't wait to see you again.
Love your other son

Happy Belated Birthday Lady V.
I know it's late but I did not forget, I was just to lazy to go on-line but you were not forgotten. As a matter of fact you were in my dreams last nite or rather this morning probably around the time you would be waking up if you were here. It was before daybreak, I had called your mom to let her know that I had not forgotten because I thought she might have been looking for a ad in the paper and I wanted to explain to her that AI just didn't put one in there because I was gonna do it on-line (here). Well, when I called her she told me Marsha, I know you hadn't forgotten and we talked a minute and I asked her about Austin because I had seen him in my dream (only he was much younger) and he appeared to be reading something and crying. But I had to go over my Mama & Daddy's house. So for some strange reason all of you were in this one dream. There was more to it but I just remember this part about talking with your mom and seeing Austin.
I pray you had a beautiful birthday. Tell my mom and dad hello and Aunt Nellie too!

Tough times don't last
I said, "Lord. I cant take!"
God said, "He'll see me through"
I said, "But what if I fall down"
God said, "He'd carry me"
I said, "My tears are many"
God said, "Trust in Me alone"
I said, "But I'm discouraged"
God said, "I'll cheer you on"
I said, "These tough times hurt"
God said, "Please let me help, I love you"
I said, "Heavenly Father, I accept"
In loving Memory of my sister,
I love you Lynette.

I just wanted to say May God keep you strong thru your sorrow. It will hurt, U will cry and we are all human, and do ask why? Just remember that you are not alone, and if you need anyone, reach out ,if only for a shoulder or just an ear; or e-mail (YOU ARE NOT ALONE), and that includes me. Just remember the Love that she gave you and taught you and she is never far away.

To all the family, it is indeed a loss when someone with as much love as she shared with us all is called home to the Father. The loved she shared was a strenght given to us all from God, and that is the part of us that now dwells within us all. My prayers are with all of you.

Lady V.
Girl, did you had a beautiful Celebration/Home Going! You looked marvelous as usual. I know you would have been proud of how well your family presented you to the public. You were a classy lady in life and just as classy a lady to the end. Your hair looked gorgeous. You looked so peaceful and at rest to me. Many kind things were said about you. I witnessed the love & kindness that you gave to everyone by the love given back to you by the number of friends and associates that came to pay their last respects. Lynette told me to stop crying that I should be crying tears of joy...V. you know me better then that. I am happy that you are at peace and no longer have any more troubles to worry about, because you know THE MASTER has you wrapped in the cradle of his arms. But, yes my tears were tears of sadness. I am very sad at losing you, my friend. It is becoming harder and harder to make friends and by the time the friendship is boned life happens and I am left alone. Yes I am happy for you, you're there in heaven going over old times with your grandmother, Mrs. Day, planting growing all kinds of flowers in heavens garden with my mother and being rocked to sleep in the arms of Jesus. I guess I'm really sad and happy at the same time. But YOU GO GIRL! Have all the peace in that life that eluded you in this life.
If God says so I'll see you when my turn rolls around.
PS...
People are still asking what happened to you (what makes people think I know what went on between you & Jesus) and are shocked, sadden, surprised to hearing that you have passed. I to am still shocked but God knows what it is best for you & me...ain't that what the song says...much more then this ol world can see. Yes, He's been good to mmmeeeee, thank you Jesus!

Love & Prayers to the Scroggins Family:
The neighborhood we had;
The fun that we shared.
The memories of old;
Now, the price we must bare.
If we can only hold on;
To what we know is right.
When God calls us home;
We know we have fought a good fight.
Nothng can compare;
To what we've been through.
Who would have known;
It could have been you.
But one thing is for sure;
The memories that we have.
Will surpass the time at hand;
To know for Vanessa's life,
That God had a plan.
So look at each day;
For this too will pass.
Only the work you've done for God;
Is what will be here, what will last!
Our prayers are with you all,
The Naylor Family (Rita, Michelle, Tracy,& me)

I was saddened to hear Vanessa was no longer with us. I have so many fond memories of the times we shared together. I would spend many weekends at her house. Zee and I would stay up all night, eating junk. Vanessa would make us get up early in the morning to clean up the mess we made the night before. As I grow into womanhood she give me words of encouragement, and let me know how proud she was of me. I love her and she is going to be truly missed.

Angel Teardrops
My guardian angel, once careless and free,
flew into the clouds and lost touch with me.
Her tears were cold and wet, falling on my face.
Her smile had left us without a trace.
Her angelic lips quivered, frozen and scared,
I felt rain clouds visiting, and had to prepare.
I knew that angels, often content,
were very special presents that God had sent.
To see one so sad,
so afraid,
so alone,
had made me weep while the cold winds had blown.
Her wings lost feathers,
comforting and soft,
falling from the stars,
floating aloft.
Her pain was felt throughout the land,
to feel true misery is impossible to stand.
I prayed so that when her hurting stops,
I'll be able to taste the angel's teardrops.
Aunt Van I'm glad you was apart of my life.............I love you with all of my heart!!

Although it is difficult to admit that everyone has an appointed time, knowing that your time has ended brings me to tears and sorrow... The time you spent on earth was well spent. You have touched many hearts and have driven many minds in the right direction while you were here. Now it is time for you to start your new life. I pray that Heaven's doors will allow you to enter new hearts and minds. Vanessa, thank you for being my friend during your lifetime. You have made it possible for your children to be here. You have made it possible for many. Your joy will carry on... Your spirit will last forever. You will always be remembered. You will always share a special place in everyone's heart especially mine!
Until we meet again... Rest in peace!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

While sitting here trying to think of some comforting things to say about my friend Lady V. and after writing a few hundred words I hit a backspace key and erased the whole thing. Since I hadn't saved it it is lost in cyber space...I'd like to think that Lady V. touched my finger and erased it...smile, those of you who know her know her to be a private person and V. would always tell me NOT TO TELL this or that, or to just keep my eyes open. So what was going to be said will not be said here for Lady V. already got the message. To her children I say remember your mother with loving thoughts, as she always loved you. To her siblings your sister always held you all in the highest, Ms. Catherine your daughter loved you dearly and always wanted you to be proud of her. She was kind and considerate to her elders always reminding those younger and if necessary those older to respect themselves. It was very important to Vanessa that children respect their parents and carried themselves in a mannerable way. She prided herself in her cleanliness, she had a giving spirit and would help if allowed to. Even though she was tiny in size she had fear of only the LORD, and she could not be pushed around she was a force to those who crossed her and one who would guide you out of darkness if you allowed her, she did not try to misguide or take advantage of the hopeless or helpless ones. I could go on about my little friend with her hair in those big rollers with a head scarf on, comforting me in my times of pain and heartache but for now I just want to hold her memories dear to me to myself.
I will always remember Ms. V. as my friend LADY V.
