Dorothy Scroggins

Services for Dorothy Scroggins, 87, of Kilgore are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Forest Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl “Buddy” Duggins officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. today at Sunset Cemetery in Nacogdoches. Mrs. Scroggins passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in a Longview hospital. Dorothy Scroggins was born Sept. 28, 1920, daughter of the late Clarence and Edna Gunn. Mrs. Scroggins was a homemaker and foster mother to many children. Dorothy enjoyed playing games of all kinds; she loved working in her yard and making crafts, which included quilting and crocheting. Mrs. Scroggins was a member of Forest Home Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Ward and husband Bill Ward of Kilgore and Norma Gibbs of Deer Park; stepdaughter, Mildred Rhinehart of Austin; sister, Edna Earl Price of Purdon; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Scroggins was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Scroggins; son, William Lynn York; brothers, William “Pete” Gunn and Dwayne Gunn; and sisters, Mayceil Cox, Eloise Bosley, Julia Mae Rae and Myrtle Marie Hairell.
