Libbie Lambert Obituary

Libbie Utley Lambert "Sweethearts Forever" Libbie Utley Lambert came into this world April 19, 1915, and left this world peacefully surrounded by her family on February 16, 2008, after a long life of service to all who knew her. She was the daughter of Samuel Utley and Rosetta Adeline Bridges. Libbie was an example of unselfish service. The consummate wife, mother, and grandmother, she led an elegantly simple life centered on the fundamental principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in the organizations of the Church well into her 80's and supported her husband in his many Church assignments, including a mission to Crow Agency, Montana. She was preceded in death by her eternal sweetheart, Elwood Delyle Lambert, whom she married January 17, 1934, in the Manti LDS Temple. Also preceded by her parents, seven siblings, three grandchildren, and friends too numerous to count. A devoted wife, beloved mother, and "good true friend," she was a woman of grace and dignity who was loved by everyone. She provided a home full of love for all including her posterity of 175 and a spiritual atmosphere for all who came into her house to receive their blessings from her husband, the patriarch. We'll always remember apple parties, postum parties, making "cooking," popcorn balls, playing games, "tea" parties for the grandchildren and lunch for whomever stopped by. She served her ancestors, caring for her failing grandmother through the years of her own childhood. She never quite uprooted herself from her Sevier or Millard County roots or the friends and family of her farm-girl beginnings. She loved her companion deeply from the time she first saw him when she was 13 years old, and now, 80 years later, they are together and still in love. A great example of what a marriage should be. Song was always in her heart and in her home. She left this world with a smile on her face as the music "Love At Home" played softly in the background. As she wrote in her journal, "every day with my beloved Elwood is a spiritual experience." She is survived by her brothers Clem, Val, and Thad; her children, Neal (Anne), Gary (Barbara), Leer (Karen), Gordon (Jacquelyn), and Annette (Steve) Suite, and their families. The family would like to thank Silverado Hospice, especially Jess, for their loving care. A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S. Highland Drive). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 11 a.m., Mt. Olympus Tenth Ward, 3610 E. 3510 S., Salt Lake City.

Dear Suite & Lambert Familys
Your mother's obituary is a tribute to a wonderful mother and grandmother. How fortunate you are to have had her example to follow. I can see the influence her life was to Annette and her lovely daughters whom I am grateful to know, love and admire.

Celeste and family,
Thank you so much for allowing us to help care for Libby in her last days. It was truely an honor to be a part of what we know was a very hard time for you all. In the short time that we knew her, we could feel her sweet spirit and the love that you all had for this wonderful person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To Libbie's Family,
Thank you for writing such a lovely tribute describing your mother, grandma, . . . Her many qualities are worthy of emulation. Again, my thanks to you for your loving description of your mother.

Dear Lambert Family,

I will be out of town on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I want you to know that Libbie is one of my heroes. What a wonderful example she was of how an older member of a ward should be! When I was in the YW, we had a project to help some people in the ward. Some members refused our help, but Libbie was glad to have us over. When about 6 of us got there, she really couldn't find much for us to do. She had us dust a high spot that she couldn't reach. (6 to do that?) Then she said, "I know, you can help me put some ice cream in cones, and then help me eat it."

I will miss Libbie, but I'm so happy for her to be together with Elwood again. My prayers are with you.

Love, Becky Hesterman

Just days before Grandma passed, Danny (my husband) and I had the opportunity to spend the night caretaking for Grandma. Hardly able to talk, she still managed to find the words "you kids have a bed?" showing another example of her incredible care and concern for those around her.

Grandma, this past week has been one of the most defining of my life. Thank you for all you have taught me!

I love you, and am so happy for you to be reunited with your sweetheart. I will be a better wife and homemaker going forward -- looking to you as an ultimate example.

Love you forever,
Sabrena

Dear Family
Thank you so much for all of the help and support. My mom needed you all and you were there. I know Grandma is in the best place and probably getting ready to cook some big dinner or plan some party with everyone up there. Even if you cant eat. You know she always asked if she could get you just one more little tiny bite of something. Remember the twins. Love You Really thank you for what you have taught me.
