Richard Focht Obituary

Born October 26, 1916 in Kenton, Ohio, son of Clinton D. Focht and Grace Swartz Focht, Richard Paul Focht spent his early life in Hardin County, Ohio. In January 1941 he joined the Army Air Corps and served as an NCO (Sgt.) until he was commissioned. Serving in the Pacific theater during World War II in the 7th Air Force, 30th Group, 819th Bomb Squadron (B-24s), he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in October 1945. He married Eileen Senning on January 11, 1945 in South Euclid, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years and his children, Richard P. Focht, jr. (Colleen), Dennis M. Focht (Donna), and Jane Focht-Hanson (Chip). He was the proud grandfather of Beth Sharum (Pete), Dennis M. Focht, jr., Ben Focht (Suzanne), and Jon Focht. In addition, he had two great-grandsons, Braeden Focht of Denver, and Zachary Sharum of Dallas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law David Rumisel, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a devoted family man. A farmer, bombardier, navigator, gunnery officer, machinist, and air conditioning specialist, Mr. Focht retired from civil service in 1985. A fifty-eight year Mason, he was also a member of the Scottish Rite since 1973. Distinguished performance marked everything he did. He enjoyed his work in service to others through his association with the Jefferson Area Lunch Bunch and membership at Jefferson United Methodist Church. It is difficult to express all of the amazing things he was capable of, but he did as he wanted, and always with gusto, until his death March 16, 2008. Memorials may be made to Jefferson United Methodist Church or to Jefferson Area Co-op for Senior Citizens. GRAVESIDE SERVICE THURSDAY MARCH 20, 2008 10:30 A.M. Dear Eileen, Jane, Dennis, Rick, and family:

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to you in your time of grief. And my thoughts are with you constantly. May your memories and the lord comfort you in your time of need.

I have some slight fond childhood memories of spending time with you (Eileen), Dick, Jane, Uncle Harold, Aunt Ruth, and Gram during the holidays. I hope your memories help carry you through your time of grief.

Please accept my deepiest sympathies.

All of my Love,
Kris
