Evelyn Marie Bruce Scroggins July 10, 1940- April 4, 2008 PHENIX CITY, AL—Evelyn Marie Bruce Scroggins, 67, of Phenix City, AL died Friday April 4, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Monday April 7, 2008 at Smyrna Baptist Church in Deep Step, GA. according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. Mrs. Scroggins was born July 10, 1940 in Deep Step, Georgia to the late James N. Bruce and Marie Durden Bruce. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Scroggins was a graduate of the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing. She played piano for Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Scroggins was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to teach and play the piano and organ. Survivors include her husband, Norman Joseph Scroggins of Columbus, GA; sons, David Scroggins of Columbus, GA and Michael Scroggins (Lori Ann) of Smiths Station, AL; a sister, Lynda Phillips (Ken) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, David Christopher Scroggins, James Andrew Scroggins, Johnathan Michael Scroggins, Christina Ann Marie Scroggins, Amanda Nicole Scroggins, Bethany Ann Hope Scroggins, and their mother Annie Laurie Scroggins; grandchild, Colin Michael Scroggins; cousins, Madelyn Cumby and Lamar Hendricks; nephews, Paul Phillips, Lou Daniel, Bill and Jack Durden of Sandersville, GA, Sue Durden of Sandersville, GA and Kimberly English of Atlanta, GA; and other loving family members and friends.
