Evelyn (Isom) Tolley, 87, of Mt. Vernon died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.She was born April 6, 1921, in Waltonville, daughter of Nelson and Inez (Green) Isom. She married Billy Wells Tolley on Sept. 6, 1948, in Morganfield, Ky., and he survives in Mt. Vernon.Evelyn was a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon. She and her husband owned and operated the Nu-Way Cleaners in Mt. Vernon until retirement in 1986. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and gardening and especially loved to entertain family and friends. She was a past member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Waltonville, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Mt. Vernon.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Pastor Randy Sells officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville. Friends may call on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the service time at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.Evelyn is survived by her husband, Billy Wells Tolley of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Jean Ann Scroggins of Waltonville; one brother, Ralph Isom of Mt. Vernon; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and one sister-in-law, Martha Tolley of Mt.Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ulan Ray and Charles Dale Isom; one sister, Winona Faye Rightnowar; her father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Lucy (Wells) Tolley; five brothers-in-law, Merle Q. Rightnowar, Harry Scroggins, Harry Ethridge, Norman Tolley and Harold Tolley; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Ethridge and Freida Tolley.For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Central Christian Church and will be accepted at the Newell Funeral Home or may be mailed to Newell Funeral Home, 505 E.
