Wegman's Deli is one place that Fred liked to shop. He became my friend and we talked about him going to Pittsburgh. He explained the tuff road he had been through with all the Doctors and all the procedures he had done concering his health. I admired him for how strong He was to go through all those procedures. I read his article in the Erie Times last year. He was so brave, and he worked so hard at loosing weight and trying to stay healthy. He always had a nice smile for all of us. We will all miss him in the Deli.

Tina and Stephen,
I am very sorry to hear about your father. I knew him many years ago as I was close friends with his sister in High School and spent a number of friday nights at their house. I lost touch with Teri and would be grateful if you would please extend my deepest sympathy to her also.

I am leaving this link again, since the first one didn't come through. It is a painting I made for Fred, as a tribute to his strength and spirit, which has touched so many people.

I really admired Fred because he faced his challenge with strength and fierce determination, and his example is something that we could all learn from. He didn't waste a minute of his time feeling sorry for himself, and he grabbed life by the horns to take as much as he could get from every experience. He was a role model to many because of this, but he also had a kind and generous heart. His rare combination of strength, bravery and kindness is rare, and he will be sorely missed.

I feel really bad Fred passed away - I'm a friend from Sloppy Duck who was rooting for him to get the heart transplant. I went to the benefit in April @ JR'S Last Laugh. He was a great person and friend and will be missed by all. You have found peace, Fred.
