Jack Smart Obituary

DENISON - Jack Andrew Smart, 84, of Denison, passed away Oct. 30, 2008 at TMC. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Tom Peel officiating. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 -7 p.m. Friday.
Jack was born on Dec. 20, 1923 in Venita, Okla., to Earnest and Ida Scroggins Smart. He married Joan Hansen on April 21, 1946 in Denison. Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an artillaryman in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Waples Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Billie Mosse Masonic Lodge 1152 and the Scottish Rites. He started Jack Smart Realty Co. in 1947. He led a strong spiritual life and always took a lot of pride in his honesty.
Survivors include sons, Jack Gregory Smart of Sherman, Jeffrey D. Smart and wife Renee of Denison and Larry Roger Smart and wife Maggie of McKinney and one daughter, Karla Stern and husband Dennis of Washington, Michigan. Also surviving him is a brother Roy Smart and wife Christine of Austin; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife on June 14, 2008 and brother Fred Smart.
Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St. Denison, has charge of all arrangements.
