Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,000 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

I didn't know Jonathan, but have read about him. I pray that he is with the Father in heaven now at peace. I hope to meet him some day in paradise. I pray that his family will be at peace some day and know that he did not die in vain. I hope that we all remember the sacrifices like his, made in support of our Nation. I also pray that others will not forget him and others who have gone to another place because they said "I'll go." Thank you Jonathan, and God bless you Dear.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jonathan, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

My condolences and sympathy to the family of SPC Jonathan Cheatham. Words cannot lessen the loss even after so much time has passed but there may be some comfort in knowing that many others care. I am an Arkansas Coordinator for the Home of the Brave Quilt Project. The purpose of this project is to honor our fallen soldiers and express our sympathy and support to the families who have experienced such a tremendous loss. More information can be found at www.homeofthebravequilts.com. Our organization would be privileged to present a quilt to the family of SPC Cheatham to honor their loss and express our support and sympathy. If anyone can put me in touch with his family, such as his mother, Dr. Porchia, I would be grateful. Again, my condolences and those of my fellow quilters go out to the family. Thank you for any assistance.

To the family of a true American hero. Let us never forgot the sacrifice that our loved ones make each day for our freedom. I lost my dear newphew in June of 2004 and think about him every day as with others. I know that our freedom is not free and I am thankful for ones who are willing to paid the price for our freedom. To the Cheatham Family, I offer my deepest sympathy in the loss of such a great young man. Too many young people have given their lives for this country. Thanks to PFC Cheatham for his unselfish sacrifice and thanks to the Cheatham family for giving us such a great young. May God hold you close and continue to comfort you.

Dr Porchia,

I was reading about Jonathan and it touched my heart to hear you describe him. He sounds like he was a "Psalms One man".

I am a mother and a grandmother. My oldest grandson is 19. I can not describe the pain I feel as a result of your loss. I have been in the Ministry since 1979 and have dealt with a great deal of death. It doesn't become easier, just bearable because death is a part of life and in the final analysis God is God and He is in control! He is in control of ALL of our tomorrows!

I am trusting God to restore your joy as only He can. To give you "...the peace that surpasses all understanding..."

In 2004, God blessed me with a "Personalized" tape ministry for our troops. The Scripture on all of my cards, stationary, cds and anything that goes out of my studio is: "...with God ALL things are possible..." When I read that Jonathan always said that it touched me!

It is an "honor" for me to do what I do and there are not enough hours in a day or ways to say "thank you". I will FOREVER salute Spc. Jonathan M. Cheatham!

I will continue to lift you and your loved ones up before Almighty God. I thank Him because "...to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord..." To God Be the Glory!

I love you in Christ,

I wish there was some comfort for you some burden I could bear for you to bring you peace but only God alone can do that and I know that is your source. Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

A CHILD IS LOANED

"I'll lend you for a little time, a child of mine," He said, "for you to love while he lives, and mourn when he is dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty two or three, but will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me? He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief, you'll have him, lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return, but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain. Nor hate me when I come to call, to take him back again?" I fancied when I heard them say, "Dear LORD, thy will be done. For all the joy thy child should bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may; And for the happiness we've known, will ever grateful stay. But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand."~

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.I DID NOT HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF KNOWING YOUR SON,BUT HEARING OF HIS DEATH REALLY TOUCHED MY HEART.I WAS AT THE STOP LIGHT AS I WATCHED HIS FUNERAL..... I HAD NEVER SEEN SO MANY CARS AND SO MANY PEOPLE FOR A FUNERAL.... To the Porchia and Cheatham family,

I am so sorry to hear about your lost...it hurts us all to know that yet another great man has been taken from camden...i had the privelage to know JC. I didnt know him as well as many others did, but i know he was a kind hearted, sweet, man who did what he always wanted to do. Take care of others. He graduated with my cousin and he hung out with my brother and his friends. I will always remember him as the funny, sweet, young man he was...You all are in our prayers. I know how it feels to of had someone sent to Iraq and wondering about him, just remember he is always gonna be here with us all...

God Bless.

Lots of love,

My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.I don't really know your son personally but I met him when I was working at the Camden Wal-mart and when he went to fight for my country he became my friend. It takes a brave and dedicated person to just wake up and say I am going to the army not knowing what is instore. God was/is his(JC's) leader. And all he can say now is WELL DONE!!

Dear Barbara and family,

I was so very sorry to hear about your son. My aunt attended the funeral service and told me how brave you were. Of course, knowing you for so many years as I did, I would imagine that you would be brave. My prayer for you is that God will comfort you and give you strength and the understanding that your son has now achieved the ultimate reward that we all aspire to. I will continue to pray for you, and please know that my heart goes out to you.

My deepest heartfelt sympathies,

Dr.Porchia and family,

You never miss your water til your well runs dry. I said that to say this Jonathan and I shared a few words in high school nothing much, but at the time I didn't bother to even mention that I knew that we were cousins. And as of this day I regret it dearly. My heart goes out to your family and also to the city of Camden b/c not only did you lose a son but we all lost a true hero.

Dr. Porchia and Family,

It is with deep sympathy that I hold you in my prayers at your time of grief. Jonathan was a great person, but we have to understand that God has called him to do greater works for Him. I'm honored to say that I knew him because he died protecting me and my country. Keep on loving him because he is in a better place and death cannot kill a love that never dies. I just want to leave you with a few words of encouragement. Washington Irving said, "there is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than 10,000 tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love."
