Dear Jean, Joost and I will miss you more than words can say. We'll miss the get togethers, the good conversations about politics, the dinners and the laughs; especially your wonderful and hearty laugh when you would beat us playing cribbage.

Dear Jean, I cannot even begin to describe how I felt when I heard and how I still feel now. I am deeply sad but at the same time also very grateful for having met you. It pains me to know how much you had to endure, such a lonely fight, and despite my deep grief I am also thankful you no longer have to suffer.

You and Don to me are family which I never had – friends that feel like a lottery win. I treasure the many moments we shared – the laughter, the dinners, moving places, just hanging out together on the boat or some other place, and also the times when I struggled for life and you (two) fought with and for me. You are a very exceptional person simply by being who you are you brought true acceptance, genuine kindness and care not only into my life but I know also into that of many others. You are greatly missed! My heartfelt condolences to Don and Marie-Luce, all his family and friends!

Jean, you will always have a place in my heart and stay part of my life. I love you.

Words cannot express the emotions that I felt when I received this sad news. Jean has been a true friend, one of the very few that knew more about me then many other people. That is exactly how I will remember Jean, a loving, thrustworthy person who found his way into many hearts, including mine. Someone who would never betray the trust that people gave to him so easily. I am proud to say that I knew Jean, and had the priviledge to play a little part in his life. I wish Don and all other family the strenght that they will need to deal with this unbelievable loss. Jean, I will miss you.

My thoughts and prayers are with Don and the rest of Jean's family. I just heard of his passing and am stunned and truly saddened by this news. Jean was a very special man, someone who had a gleam in his eye, a big smile on his handsome face, a kind word for everyone and a cleverness and wit that made being around him a joy. My condolences to Don and Jean's mother and all of his friends in this extremely difficult time. Greg Crouch

Oh dear Jean,
Your endless kindness which you expressed in that soft warm voice of yours. Your eyes that smiled.
I remember when I told you a secret while we were at a rehearsal of the Queen's English Theatre Company. You were one of the first persons I told and not yet sure what to think of it myself. But your response was so loving and open that I felt completely safe and reassured. I think that is the general effect you had on me: I felt safe and reassured with you.
And you made me laugh! Your humor shone through in the video you made, that Sean also mentioned, of when we went to Ljubljana. I was just speaking about it to Annika today, what a great time we had there together and how well that video reflected that. It is still one of my favourite things in the world, that video!
Oh dear Jean, I'll miss you dearly, but just know that you are safely nestled in my heart for ever.

Dag lieffie!

Love,
Heleen

Ahhh Jean ... I was so shocked to hear! It was a few hours before I was to go on stage and all I could do was sit and cry for those two hours. Thank you for all your photos, your video montage of our infamous acting trip to LJ, Slovenia, your laughter, and just for being you!!! You touched my heart and I will miss you dearly!!! Love Sean
