CAMANCHE — Genevieve M. Gielow, 91, of Camanche, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Carrington Place of Toledo, in Toledo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Jennifer Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews. Visitation will be from 9:30am to the service time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Genevieve Olson was born on October 4, 1917 in Thornton, Iowa, the daughter of Halvor and Alma (Toresdahl) Olson. She married LeRoy Gielow on November 20, 1940, in Clinton; he died May 30, 1998. Genevieve was a 1936 graduate of Lyons High School. Genevieve and her husband owned and operated Modern Dry Cleaners in Toledo, Iowa, from 1945-1959. She then moved to Camanche and worked at the Clinton Garment Company until her retirement in 1981. Genevieve was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton and was active in the Lois Circle. Genevieve is survived by her sister, Avis (Paul) Schember of Farmville, Virginia, a sister-in-law, Ann Olson of Victor, Iowa; and 12 nieces and nephews, Janet (Fran) Kroon of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Joye (John) Mueller of Clinton, Michael (Sarah) Schember of Farmville, Virginia, Paul (Bette) Schember of Virginia Beach, Virginia, David (Julie) Olson of Decorah, Iowa, Janice (Dennis) Kelly of Morton, Illinois, Tom (Marilyn) Olson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Doug Olson of Des Moines, Iowa, Jim (Mary) Olson of Burlington, Iowa, LeRoy (Louann) Olson of Toledo, Iowa, Margie (Curt) McWilliams of Victor, Iowa, and Randy (Paula) Olson of West Des Moines, Iowa; 33 great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her brother, Howard Olson; and one nephew, Alan Petersen. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Iowa Hospice.
