Catherine G. Cromley, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 28 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, after a short illness.
Born December 20, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to Francis J. and Rose T. Burns, she graduated in 1943 from Barberton High School. She was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber before marrying Richard Cromley on January 22, 1952, travelling throughout the U.S. and overseas while Richard was in the USAF. She resided in Galion, Ohio for the last 38 years.
She is survived by husband, Richard of Galion; sister-in-law, Mae Furman of Barberton; nephew, John (Carol) Furman of Gray, Maine; aunt, Lydia Holbert; and cousins, Earl Holbert Jr., Dot (Lindsey) Shiver, and Bert (Leon) Wood, all of the Atlanta, Ga. area. she was preceded in death by father and mother, Francis J. and Rose T. Burns; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emerson and Eva Cromley; and sister-in-law, Jeannine Cromley, all of Barberton, Ohio.
She was a 50 year member of Rome First United Methodist Church in Rome, N.Y., 60 year member of the Eastern Star Anna Dean Chapter in Barberton, Ohio, and 25 year volunteer at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Galion, Ohio.
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made on Catherine's behalf to charities of choice.
