Rachel Busby Obituary

Rachel Verda Busby

Our beloved Rachel was born November 27, 1978 in Mt Vernon, WA. She passed away on May 25, 2009 at her home in Bellevue, WA at the age of 30.
Rachel graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1997 and from Western Washington University in 2001, with a degree in psychology.
Rachel was a wonderful, giving, loving, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived and celebrated by her loving proud parents, Buzz L. Busby and Angela K. Wright; her devoted sisters, Tierra A. Busby and Avril A. Busby; her beloved niece, Amaya C. Busby- Frey; beloved nephew, Asher R. Sutton; and numerous loving extended family and closely held friends.
Rachel touched many lives in her short lifetime. She will always be loved and remembered for her beautiful smile, her warmth and humor, kindness and empathy for others. She worked tirelessly at the Skagit County Prosecutor's office and Skagit DV&SA Services to assist victims of domestic violence and to promote understanding of that issue.
A memorial in her honor will be held at 3 p.m., June 20, 2009, at River and Meadows Park on Jordan Rd. near Granite Falls, WA. The wearing of her favorite color red is suggested.
In remembrance of Rachel, donations may be made in her name to Skagit
DV&SA Services (www.skagitdvsas.org) or to Heifer International (www.heifer.org), which provides farm animals to families in need worldwide.

Rachel was such a light in this world. She was the most genuine person and always had a smile and kind word for all. I have a small picture of a few of us together that sits framed on my dresser and always will. She is gone but never forgotten. ❤

sweetest Rachel,

words cannot express the despair of the news of your passing.
We will always love you as one of our family.

July 10, 2009

In life our souls and love we did share.
Now, without your touch I feel only despair.
And, the empty silence is more than my heart can bear.

There are so many things I wished and need to declare.
With each tear and whisper, I beseech you to hear my prayer.
So until that day, please just know that I loved and cared.

Be at peace my little dragonfly.

Rachel,
I was saddened to hear the news that you left us here on earth, however know that you are at peace in God's hands.
I always enjoyed our time together and always thought of you as such a beautiful fragile flower, so sweet with a gorgeous smile and one of the kindest people I know. I am honored that you allowed me to be your friend.

You will be missed by so many. I will never forget you...Rest easy sweet Rachel.

Love and Friendship Always....until we meet again,

The pain of losing someone so dear would break the human spirit if we were not blessed with the ability to remember all the joy, love and happiness those we have lost have brought to our lives. May your wonderful memories of Rachel sustain you and deliver a smile at the moments you need it most. Love and prayers.

To the Busby Family and our Son Ron.

Trust in the Master Weaver

When grey threads mar lifes pattern
And seem so out of line,
Trust in the Master Weaver
Who planned the whole design.

The pattern may seem intricate
And hard to understand,
But trust in the master weaver
And his steady, guiding hand.

This poem makes me think of what Rachel would want:

when i come to the end of the road,

and the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in a gloom-filled room!

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little-but not too long,

and not with your head bowed low;

remember the love that we once shared-but let me go.

For this journey we all must take

and each must go alone;

it's all part of the Master's plan- a step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friend's we know,

and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds

Miss me-but let me go.

Find your peace Rachel....

Kiddo,

You are beautiful and your love so innocent. I’m going to miss your shuffling steps around the house, the battles between you and buddie over the couch, your special laugh and radiant smile. Your needs were modest and pure….Love and a chocolate dipped cone! Words can’t express how much I’m going to miss you. You took a piece of my soul with you…it’s yours to keep.

Busby family: I am deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved daughter and sister, Rachel. I remember Rachel as a sensitive and compassionate little girl who had a natural curiousity about the world. She had a light and beauty about her that made her stand out among her friends and classmates. Even after all these years I can clearly remember her beautiful face surrounded by long curls and her ever present smile. She will be sorely missed by so many people.
My prayers are with you as well as with Rachel...

Rachel, You always had a bright glow of goodness beaming from you. You were always there for me. Anyone who you ever met they always instantly fell in love with you. You are such a good person. I have so many good memories and we have had so much fun together I can picture us laughing together right now. I Love You

To Rachel's family and other friends, I am shocked that she is no longer with us to share her smile, sense of humor and to be a friend to many who needed her. I worked with Rachel at the prosecutor's office and respect all she did for victims of domestic violence. Gretchen

My deepest sympothies to the Busby family. Rachel was one in a million and was amazing at always putting a smile on someone's face when they needed it most. The light that she brought to the world will never be forgotten.

June 11, 2009

In elementary school - We met and became friends.
In middle school - We shared many good times as well as a cabin at camp.
In high school - We joined several clubs together (art club, science club), were lab partners, and most importantly good friends.
In College - We ate pizza together, saw Tori Amos together, hung out on WWU's campus together, and had many coffee outings
As adults - We shared the stress of our work days, played trivial pursuit, had many dinners together, and during her hard times we lived together.

Rest now Rachel and know that you were loved and will not be forgotten.
