Naomi Davis Scarbrough (formerly of Pelham) passed away at a blessed 100 at her daughter's home on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009. Mrs. Scarbrough was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Thomas County to Pvt. Jonah Beale Davis of Co B 8th Florida Infantry, CSA and Pashie Palmer Davis. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a long time member of Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church of Pelham, Ga.; Real Daughter of a Confederate Soldier; member of John B. Gordon Chapter No. 383 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy of Thomasville, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lamar (R. L.) Scarbrough; her sister Fannie Davis Tinsley; and brother-in-law, Leon Tinsley Sr., all of Pelham, Ga. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn E. Scarbrough Stone (Tommie) of Jeffersonville; son, Larry Scarbrough (Kay) of Pelham; grandchildren, Gary Stone (Kelly) of Bonaire, Angela Stone Deal (Ken) of Cochran, Chris Scarbrough (Dawn) of Pelham, Crystal Scarbrough and fiance D. J. Chipman of Cumming; great-grandchildren, Naomi Deal, Zach Deal, Makayla Deal of Cochran, Savannah Stone, Alex Stone of Bonaire, William Scarbrough of Pelham; nieces, Dorothy Maxwell of Cairo, Patricia Rhodes (Marion) of Quitman and hew nephew, Leon Tinsley Jr. (Reba) of Pelham. Visitation is at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home Chapel in Pelham on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home Chapel in Pelham with burial in Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Pelham. Elder Walter Todd, Elder Jimmy Smith and Elwyn Childs will officiate. Pallbearers are Larry Scarbrough, Chris Scarbrough, William Scarbrough, Gary Stone, Ken Deal, Leon Tinsley III, Chad Daughtry and D.J. Chipman. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Tinsley Jr. and deacons of Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church.
