Mildred Shaver

Mildred Henrietta Shaver, 95, of Le Center, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. Visitation will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center on Tuesday, November 17 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be at the church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center. Arrangements are with Le Center Funeral Home. Mildred was born on November 1, 1914, at the family home in Kasota Twp. in Le Sueur County to Walter and Ida (Boehland) Dunkelbeck. She attended grade school in rural Kasota and graduated from Kasota High School in 1932. After graduation, she worked for six years at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. Mildred married Jasper Shaver at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato on September 21, 1938. They lived and farmed near Mankato, Kasota, Nicollet and Le Center. In 1965, Mildred and Jasper moved into Le Center where he operated the Mileage Café and Gas Station and the Le Center Alfalfa Plant. Mildred was active in the Garden Club, quilting group and altar guild at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. She was also in the Cleveland Chapter #260 of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron. She enjoyed reading, crafts, cake decorating, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and flower gardening. She and Jasper enjoyed fishing and traveling throughout the United States and spent over 30 winters in Florida. She is survived by daughters, Marilyn (Darvin) Reddemann of Le Center and Sharon Pinney of Le Sueur and daughter-in-law, Jane Shaver of Elysian; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jasper in 1990; son, David in 1996; grandchildren, Michael, Brenda and Kristine Pinney; sister Elvira Dunkelbeck and brothers, Harold and Howard Dunkelbeck.
