Nellie Scionti Obituary

Nellie (Leonetti) Scionti, beloved wife of Leo Scionti, for over 60 years, passed away peacefully at The Westerly Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Nellie was born in Westerly to the late Pasquale and Bomina (Gencarelli) Leonetti. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Patty Ellen; her brothers, Frank, Angelo and Anthony; and her sisters, Annie, Assunta, and Angeline.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind three daughters, Debra Scionti of Ashland, Ore., Lynne Scionti and her husband, Rick Landt, of Ashland, Ore., and Lori Scionti and her husband, Mark Hutchinson, of Kingston, R.I. Nellie was the proud grandmother of Ian Scionti of Seville, Spain, Alex Landt and Christopher Landt of Ashland Ore., Pfc. Ben Hutchinson and his wife, Elizabeth (Comeau) Hutchinson, and Olivia Hutchinson of Kingston, R.I. Nellie is also survived by a sister, Lucy (Leonetti) Pelletier; a niece, Joyce (Pelletier) Clark; six nephews; two great-nephews and one great-niece.
Nellie was a devout Catholic, a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a volunteer at The Westerly Hospital. She enriched the lives of many with her loving, giving spirit and her fun-loving, positive outlook on life. Her presence will be missed and never forgotten.
Visiting hours are omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 111 High St., Westerly, on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at 10 a.m. There will be no procession from the funeral home to the church. The burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a charity of one's choice in Nellie's memory.

Dear Scionti Family,
I will remember her coming to the Johnston's Pool with her grandchildren. We had great times in the backyard on those hot summer days. She was a kind lady. God bless you all in this time of sadness.

Dear Leo and family,
George and I were deeply saddened to read about Nellie's passing. We enjoyed having her as a very thoughtful and caring neighbor for over thirty years. May her soul rest and peace and may God bless you with comfort and strength during this most difficult time.

Dear Scionti family,
I always remember your mother's trip to San Francisco, her warmth and happy spirit. My friend Debra said she was ''her rock.'' I lost my Mom a year ago. The loss of a mother cannot be described. I wish you all peace. In Nellie's memory a donation will be made to the Cape Cod Homeless Shelter for Women. Independence House. I wish you peace. Ellen Anderson

To the Scionti family, but especially to my forever friend Lori, my heart aches for you. Your mom was a gem. And she has three beautiful girls who are a testament to that. I am thinking of you.

Lynne, please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of you Mom. I would see her and your dad at church and she would share me how you were doing. It has been awhile since I have seen her and I often thought of her and how she was doing. I am sure you will treasure wonderful memories of her.
