Beunice Roberts Obituary

WINCHESTER, Ky. - Beunice "Bee" Roberts, 93, of Winchester, entered into rest on January 7, 2011, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. She was born May 10, 1917 in Millen, Georgia, to the late Ernest and Della Blackburn, of Perkins, GA. Bee was a graduate of Millen High School and later enrolled in the Augusta Business College. Mrs. Roberts married Clarence Leslie Roberts in 1938. She served in the nursing field at Screven County Hospital, sales at Waters Pharmacy, and for the Pike Company. She moved to Winchester in 1960, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, member and officer of the Mansfield-Fireside Circle, United Methodist Women, Joy-XYZ Golden Agers, and "Amaranth" (branch of Eastern Star). She served in the nursing profession at Guerrant Clinic and the Clark County Hospital for many years. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kirby (Elwanda) Roberts of Winchester, two daughters, Cheryl Black of Winchester, and Trudy Smyth of Danville, grandchildren and their spouses, Keith (Sara) Roberts and Kristin (Doug) King all of Winchester, Hal (Jen) Black of Severn, Maryland, and Eric Parker of Pennsylvania, great-grandchildren, Andrew Keith and Lillian Grace Roberts, Rylee Kate and Aubrie Leigh King all of Winchester, and Harold Wayne "Trey" Black III and Hadley Irene Black of Severn, MD., nieces and nephews, Domojean (Arthur) Wallace, of Augusta, GA., Vicki (Louis) Grant of Hilton Head, SC., Brenda Mathern of Millen, GA., James Robert "Bobie" Blackburn, Randy (Jerri) Blackburn, Raymond (Lorene) Blackburn, all of Millen, GA., Dwayne (Nancy) Blackburn and Ernie (Karen) Blackburn of Augusta, GA., and Rickie (Jeanie) Blackburn and Steve (Jan) Blackburn of Waynesboro, GA., and Juanita Saxon of Jacksonville, FL. Preceded in death by granddaughter, Lesley Black Parker and 3 sisters and 6 brothers, Elva Saxon, Layuna Davis, Tremon Cates, James Curtis Blackburn, Eason Blackburn, Bruce Blackburn, Henry Blackburn, Danny Blackburn, and Jimmie Blackburn, also nephews, Talmadge Saxon and Gary Cates. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:30AM at the First United Methodist Church by Rev. James Williams III, Rev. Howard Reynolds, and Rev. Isaac Whitt. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30p until 7PM at the church. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Roberts, Doug King, Hal Black, Mike Jackson, Chris Shearer, Jerry Conkwright, and Coleman Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Vermillion, Don Williamson, Bob Baldwin, Bob Jackson, John Collins, Charles Collins, John Ballard, Ed Burtner, Dudley Taylor, members of the Mansfield Fireside Circle, Ruth Lee Sunday School Class, and the Joy XYZ Group. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garden Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, 204 S. Main St., Winchester, KY 40391. In charge of arrangements is Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S.
