Mama,
I can't believe you have been gone a week already, it only seems like yesterday you were here. Tomorrow night would have started my weekend with you. I will be alright because I know you are with Jesus and Daddy. During the day I find myself wanting to call to check on you. I have picked up the phone several times to make my 7:00 pm call. I love and miss you so much.
Love, Jackie

What a great lady you have all lost! I was only around her for a short period of time but she was someone you didn’t forget. A conversation with her was so enjoyable, she was right there, 100% with you, clear and secure in who she was. I love being around people, saint or sinner, who wear their “inside on the outside”. It’s very relaxing not to have to wonder about the “real” person. She was special. And definitely in the angel category.
Ms. Electa and people like her - they are like big supporting columns and when they go our worlds get a little shaky. I mourn her loss for historical reasons also. You can’t help the things that come to mind sometimes – when I went to the funeral home I thought, they are about to close the lid on an encyclopedia. All of the things she has seen in her 95 years! And the lessons she could teach! Especially having lived in the Basin. She has lived in concert with nature, not trying to subdue or destroy it. And without her we would not have had the environmental warrior that we had in Walter, or the victories he brought to our state.
I feel better knowing that she and Mr. David have left their legacy in all of you, the chapters able to be saved from their joint encyclopedia. That’s one of the good things about a big family, those good genes get passed on! I also feel better knowing her “dancing in heaven” story! I can just see them. You are all in my thoughts and I will keep you in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Les Ann Kirkland

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother, Mrs Electa. She was a sharp and lovely lady whom we enjoyed visiting when we were going to our camp or stopping to see Walter. Her memory was amazing, always remembering us and sincerely interested in whatever we were doing. I know you will miss her and it has been our pleasure to have known her over the past 40 years. We would love to express our sympathy in person but since we are living in California this year it is not possible. Hope to see some of you when we come home this Summer. Jerry and Elaine

Know she is happy and pain free now. I know it does not help your sadness and the empty spot in your heart. In time memories will help ease the pain and loneliness. God be with all of Mrs.Electa's family in this time of sadness.

Mrs. Electa Children
As our lives and paths of our own families take us to different areas it does not allow us to share thoughts often, except in sadness as is the case with the news of your mother's passing. I seen her a time or two at other services of friends, as she always attended when she could. We chatted a bit and she always was such a sharp "LADY" even well into her 90's which is amazing as we all know huh? Michael and I gave her some rough times as children, but she always remained "COOL" even when she had to discipline us which was often, and rightfully so. She stood her ground and took care of her business, without getting into other people business and that is a trait of a remarkable person. My family and I were blessed to have yall as neighbors and the memories will remain with me forever. Times and the world change, but Mrs. Electa was and will always be a part of my conversation when I speak of 'the good ole times" as we all say. So God Bless all of you in your time of sadness and I speak for my entire family. (special note for Jackie) Although we do not see each other often, you are my God Child and I do not forget -if you should need anything -just call me - O.K. Love Ya!
hope to attend the wake on Sunday.
Again God Bless All!

Children of Mrs. Electa,
As in most cases with families & friends our lives and own families take us to different areas and paths which does not allow us to see each other or share thoughts very often. Unfortunately, it usually is through sadness as is my feelings to hear about your MOM. The last time I seen her was at the funeral home, for she always attended friends of Bayou Sorrel services I am sure. She was one sharp lady and we chatted a time or two then. I know Michael and I gave your Mom a pretty rough time as kids, but Mrs. Electa remained "cool" even during the discipline of us, and we rightfully deseved every minute of it. She was a wonderful "LADY" that took care of her business and if memory serves me right did not get into anyone elses, a mark of a great person. I will always remember her and just want to tell all of you that myself and family were blessed to have her and yall as neighbors! Special note to Jackie, as I am your God Father - Call me if you need anything - for i do not forget -although we do not see each very often O.K. Hope to attend the wake on Sunday
God Bless Yall

Mama,
I know you are now in heaven with Daddy, your other family members and friends. Lord what a reunion that was. I thank God that he let Valerie and me hold your hands on this side as you crossed over to the other side and then he held them while you walked through the Pearly Gates. I love you with all my heart and soul. I will miss you and think about you every day. Thank you for being the BEST Mother in the world.
Love, your baby girl
