Calvin Showman Obituary
He was born May 14, 1930 in Conicville, the son of the late John L. Showman, Sr. and the late Jocelia Sheetz Showman.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing with Pastor James D. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Conicville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Showman was a member of United Church of Christ in Conicville. He was a factory machinist and a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen R. Showman; daughters, Judith Greathouse and husband Joe of Winchester, and Kathy Looman and husband Jerry of Mt. Jackson; sons, John C. Showman and wife Vickie of Mt. Jackson, and Jeffery Showman of Staunton; sisters, Gladys Hansberger of Woodstock, and Elizabeth Ryman of Mt. Jackson; brother, John L. Showman, Jr. of Arlington; and four grandchildren, PFC. James Greathouse, Christopher Looman, Joanna Greathouse, and Crystal Showman.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Algie Dellinger; and brothers, Ray Showman and Elwood Showman.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Ryman, Terry Showman, Ricky Showman, Robert Showman, John L. Showman, III, and Kevin Showman.

So sorry to hear about Cal. We sure did have lots of fun playing cards for a long time even though Jesse did not like it when I would play right into Cal's hand.Of course Cal & I were always partners. I worked with Cal at JM for many years. He was a talented machinist who came up with innovative solutions to many problems encountered at the plant
and at his farm. Always a smile when he was talking with anyone.
He and his talents will be missed in the area.
