John "Hobo Jack" F.X. Curnyn
North Myrtle Beach
John "Jack" Curnyn, 65, passed away at home from cancer, Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011. He was born in Jersey City, N.J. to John and Mary Curnyn, now deceased. He was also predeceased by a sister, Dorothy L. Curnyn.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carol Shaw-Curnyn of North Myrtle Beach; his sister, Patricia M. Curnyn of Philadelphia, Pa.; his son, Garrett M. Curnyn of Bayonne, N.J.; his step-son, Michael Thorpe and wife, Mary of Georgia and Thomas Thorpe of N. Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Nicholas Curnyn, Robert Thorpe, Michaela Thorpe and Joshua Thorpe.
Jack was an Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion, and Color Guard Sergeant of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and an avid golfer.
A memorial prayer service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Lee Funeral Home, in Little River, S.C.
A reception, following the service, will be held at "Mulligans" (old Pat and Mikes Irish Pub). Friends are welcome!
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church or In Care Home Health and Hospice, both in North Myrtle Beach. A Guest Book is available at www.myrtlebeachfuneralhome.com.

Deepest sympathy to you and yours. We must be related from Glangevlin, Co. Cavan Ireland. My Grandfather was Patrick Curnyn from the Pat, Pat, Jimmy family. Interested in how he got his nickname "Hobo Jack".
