Resident of San Jose
Born in San Jose, CA. Loving son of Susan Gentis Dalis, Nicholas John Dalis and Valerie Jo Dalis. Deeply loved brother of Peter N. Dalis (Rebecca). Preceeded in death by Grandparents Nicholas Peter Dalis and Carmella Pascali Dalis. Cherished Grandson of Joe Gentis, Don and Betty Brown. Adored nephew of the late Deborah Ann Dalis-Smith (Tony), Tom and Lisa Randazzo. Godfather of Ava Swanson. Surrounded by the love of many cousins, nieces and nephews for his giving, generous and endearingly loving demeanor.
A 1994 graduate of Bellarmine College Prep, Nicky was a stellar athlete, playing varsity football and excelling in varsity baseball, making the WCAL All League Team in his Senior year. Upon graduation, he played baseball at Saint Mary's College, West Valley Junior College (where he was an All-conference selection), and U.C.Davis, where he graduated in 1999. Baseball was his true love, but an injury forced him to begin the next phase of his life, as he became the Director of Safety and Compliance for Joseph J. Albanese construction. He oversaw over 700 employees, and it was extremely challenging, as the dangerous potential of exposure to massive heavy equipment was ever present. Nonetheless, he flourished and was awarded the national Safety Professional of the Year Award from J.J. Keller Associates. He was flown back to Neenah, Wisconsin to attend a private ceremony and receive a monetary reward.Nick established many deep relationships at J.J.A., and the Dalis family will be forever grateful to the Albanese family and organization. Nick truly espoused the Jesuit tradition of being a "Man for Others."
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Bellarmine Leontyne Chapel. Please park in the on-campus parking lots. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to establish a Nicholas P. Dalis Memorial Scholarship Fund at Bellarmine College Prep.

At this time of year I always think of the Dalis. Today i Gooogled Nickkie and my God learned of this. So odd...on this very day. I am saddened and shocked to learng of Nikki's passing and am in pain at the loss of a loving, sensitive and caring person who gave to to others. So many wonderful memories of Nick, Peter, Valaerie and Nick Sr. will be with me forever.

I waited tables at the Garden City when Nicky was just a baby. I remember him coming in and sitting in a booth in his baby seat. My prayers go out to all of you at this time. It sounds like he was a wonderful young man.

Nick, Valerie and Peter...

I was so sad to hear of Nicky's passing. I have such fun memories of him when we were little kids in Palm Springs at Eastertime. Our parents liked to go to dinner really late and he would always fall asleep in his food :) Although I had not seen him in years, I can see he turned into a wonderful man. On so many levels, Nick will be sorely missed by his friends at JJA. Nick was more than an employee or Safety Director; he was a friend, a confidant, a cook, a golf organizer, a shoulder to cry on, and John's watcher!
The emptiness in our heart and sadness in our tears can only be consoled by the thought that Nicky will now be the guardian angel for us all.
May you rest in peace and those whose lives you've touched, keep your vibrant spirit alive in their hearts for the rest of time.

I'm heartbroken to hear this news. It feels like only yesterday we were still kids spending our days on the diamonds at Congress Springs and Sartoga HS all those years in Little League and beyond. Big Nick and Nicky, you were big figures in my life during that time. Nicky, you were always genuine and had that uplilfting spirit. Rest in Peace old Friend. I was so surprised to her that Nick had passed away. We met in high school working at Charlie Rose Baseball. Nick was also so kind and always had an open invitation to hang out whether at a game or at a get together. Rest in peace, you'll be missed.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Dalis family. Nick was a great guy and I am saddened to hear of his passing. I played softball at WVC at the same time that he played baseball at WVC. He always had a smile and was an all around great guy.
