Harold Divelbess, age 94, Missouri Valley, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley. Harold Moats Divelbess was born Dec. 17, 1916, on his family's farm where he lived all 94 years of his life. His parents were Bart and Carrie (Moats) Divelbess. He attended East Boyer Valley School and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1934. Harold then began his farming career which spanned six decades as he farmed, first with his father, then by himself, and then with his son, Jim. Harold married Mary Ellen Anderson on May 5, 1946, at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley. Harold and Mary enjoyed dancing and were members of the Movallian Dance Club of which Harold was president in 1971-1972. He had an avid interest in coon hunting which began when Harold was nine years old. He was a charter member of the Boyer Valley Coon Hunters' Club. Harold's dog, Blue Boy, won the Governor's Cup in 1997. Harold also enjoyed writing and had several poems and short stories published in Full Cry hunting magazine. He was an avid reader his whole life and listened to books on tape when macular degeneration disabled his vision. Harold was a member of the Board of Trustees for Community Memorial Hospital for six years and a member of the Harrison County Extension Council for four years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his daughter: Ruth and husband Roger Crispin of Wichita, Kansas, sons; Wayne and wife Jen Divelbess of Missouri Valley, and Jim and wife Jill Divelbess of Logan. He is also survived by grandchildren: Aaron (Maggie) Crispin, Adam Crispin, Ryan (Erin) Dunlay, Bailey Divelbess, Shelby Divel-bess, and three step-grandchildren, Mitchell, Matthew and Marshall Barney, four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Crispin, Jane Crispin, Madeline Dunlay and Max Dunlay.

Harold is preceded in death by: his wife Mary of 62 years, parents, six year old son, Rodney and sister, Alice Divelbess Moorman.

A memorial has been established with the Missouri Valley Public Library, 420 E. Huron St., Missouri Valley, IA 51555

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Dec. 10, at the First Presbyterian Church, Missouri Valley, with Pastors Barbara and Roger Todd and Pastor Larry Green officiating. Organist was Genelle Riesland and vocalist was Rick Powell. Music selections were "In The Garden" and "When You're Smiling." Casket bearers were Thomas Gann, S.J. Acrea, Don Brothers, John Bertelson, Pete Cunard and Dave Vorthmann.

Final resting place was Frazier Cemetery, Missouri Valley.
