Milos Roberts Obituary

ROBERTS, MILOS "MILES" GARNETT, 77, husband of Elsie L. Roberts, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 6, 1934 in the Merritt Ridge community of Windsor, KY, he was the son of the late Jason and Cordelia Luttrell Roberts.

Survivors other than his wife, include a son, Michael Bruce Roberts of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Deidra (Andrew) B. Hoellein of Lexington and Amber (Joshua D.) B. Tarter of Somerset; five grandchildren, Trennon L. Tarter, Benjamin M. Hoellein, Ellary L. Tarter, Zachary R. Hoellein and Thomas M. Hoellein. Other survivors include sisters, Janice Fox of Dunnville, KY and Phyllis (Robert) Huffstedler of Port Orange, FL, as well as a special nephew, Steve (Laura) Fox of Dunnville, KY. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Miles is preceded in death by one sister, Helena Pettyjohn.

After graduating from Nancy High School in 1954, Miles enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corp where he was promoted to Sergeant and served in the military until 1957. He then entered Berea College where he played basketball and made many lifetime friends. Following his college experience, he became a successful businessman in insurance, real estate, and farm gate sales and manufacturing. Being a firm believer in hard work, he remained active in his business affairs until a month before his death. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist in Somerset, KY. Miles loved his church, UK basketball, and raising cattle but most of all he loved being Paw-Paw to his five grandchildren. Miles was also known for his generosity and kindness for those in need in Liberty and surrounding communities. He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.

Funeral services are noon Friday, August 3, 2012 at Oak Hill Baptist Church, Somerset, KY with Bro. Harold Brown and Bro. Gary Phelps officiating. Burial is at Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty and Friday at Oak Hill Baptist in Somerset from 8:30 a.m. until funeral service.

Contribution are suggested to the Oak Hill Baptist Building Fund, 2135 Oak Hill Road, Somerset, KY ; and Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive Somerset, KY 42503.
