What a talented man. My dad was the first trombonist in the Utica Symphony and I was treated to Chuck Mangione friends in love ensemble, totally unforgettable, and I own that and other albums by this man. Later in the 1980 Olympics when he wrote all the music, my late brother Greg Kreis Was a trombone major at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam New York. He was so thrilled to play with Chuck Mangione at the Olympics. Rest in peace.

Yesterday
My name is Gary Eidelstein - a very old friend of Chuck's. I read about Chucks passing in the Miami Herald this past Sunday.
I grew up with Chuck and Gap on Grant Street in Rochester, New York. We went to the same grammar school (PS # 20) and Ben Franklin High School. Lived and played sports together until our late teen years.
I was not musically inclined like the Mangione brothers - but I respected Chucks talents and followed is career over the years. Last time I saw Chuck was a concert in Miami Beach many years ago. His father Frank was with him and I went back-stage to say hello. Although I had not seen Chuck or Gap in many years I have never forgot my closest childhood friends.
My sincere condolences.
Can you please give Gap my contact information - I would like to say hello.

I was deeply grieved when I learned of Chuck's passing. As a trumpet player, I followed his exemplary playing and unique compositions from the beginning of his career. He was unique in his field and I know that he now rests in peace on "The Hill Where the Lord Hides" My condolences go to Gap and the entire Mangione Family.

I was sad to hear of Chuck Mangione´s passing and have been listening to his music for the first time in several years. He had another connection to Canandaigua Academy´s music program and Jack Lamb. The marching band played three of his songs as its field marching program for 2-3 years in the mid-70s.

My husband was Bucky Milam, also a flugelhorn player who passed in 2020. Chuck had a flugelhorn case made in Manhattan but when he made modifications to his horn my husband ended up with the case.
I am a flute player and really enjoy playing "Chase the Clouds Away" practically every week. My prayers and thoughts with Chuck's family. My kindergarteners loved "The Land of Make Believe" - Esther Satterfield was the best.

You could not go anywhere back in the mid to late 70's without hearing Chuck Mangiones,"Feels so Good" on the radio! No way. So many of us LOVED that song because it did make you feel good!! It was special. Chuck seemed to blend jazz, pop, and soft rock and his music came up magic and sounded great! A true original for sure. So Sad that you left us. Thank you Chuck for all the music and the memories! My condolences to the Mangione family. May you Rest in Peace.......

How many of you remember Nate's Brown Derby restaurant, near The Twelve Corners in Rochester? Nate ran a menu item in Chuck's honor called "Veal's So Good." That was a very long time ago, but a good memory.

God bless the soul of Chuck. My sincere condolences to his family. I was a huge fan since the early days of his music . The first concert of his that I attended was in a high school auditorium in Lackawanna NY . My girlfriend and I fell in love with his music . We followed him through those years and attended concerts at Melody Fair , Kleinhans Music Hall and droved from Buffalo to Rochester's Eastman Theatre when he produced the concert for Esther Satterfield , which was recorded live . Now that Chuck has gone on to the " Hill Where The Lord Hides " , he can meet up with Gerry Niewood and their other friends who have left this earth . If there is a Rock n Roll Heaven , You know that they will be part of the band . God Rest your soul Chuck and Thank you for being part of my life !!! Rest in peace !!!!!!

Chuck´s music was soothing, uplifting, inspirational and imaginative. I feel blessed with the memory from high school days in the early 70´s, when Chuck and Gerry Niewood spent a few days with our jazz ensemble at the invitation of our band director Jack Lamb, an Eastman Schoolmate of theirs. They arranged several pieces and performed with us at our Christmas concert to the delight of our whole Canandaigua community. His legacy of music will always make us Feel So Good forever. May he rest in peace...

I remember listening to Chuck Mangione´s albums as a high school senior, somewhat confused by how they made me feel. He introduced me to melodies, passages, and a style that was different than anything I had ever heard. Thank you, Mr. M for giving me sweet memories of pure musical enjoyment.
