Bulavitsky, Vasil Beloved Son, Husband, Step-parent, Grandparent, Age 67. Passed away at his Saint Paul home surrounded by friends and family on January 1, 2013. Born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia on January 11, 1945. Son of Ukrainian émigrés who resided in a refugee camp prior to his family's relocation to the USA in 1950 after a University of Minnesota professor sponsored his father, a renowned artist of the Ukrainian diaspora. Preceded in death by father, Olexa Bulavitsky; mother-in-law, Irene Ulrich; and nephew, Brent Ulrich. Survived by wife, Eileen Ulrich; mother, Nina Bulavitsky; brother, Andrew Bulavitsky; step-children, Erik Beeler and Jessica Beeler (Warren Young); and grandchildren, Ella, Tamir, Maceo, and Ezra. Also survived by countless family, friends, and colleagues who held vigil at his bed as he succumbed to cancer. A lifelong nurse who demonstrated great care for his patients; Vasil deeply honored music, art, and the natural world, and wholeheartedly appreciated all who surrounded him. Our deep and abiding love will follow him wherever he travels. Visitation Friday, January 4 from 5-7:30 pm, prayer 7:30-8 pm. Funeral service Saturday, January 5 at 11 am, luncheon to follow. Dear Eileen and family, I am so sorry. Vasil was my best friend in grade school. He lived at 7 corners and I lived a block away. We started our own astronomy club--membership 2. I remember his dad letting us do target practice in their apartment for his birthday. I think of his mom every easter with ukrainian easter eggs. We'd run into each other every so often downtown, scrapes of paper exchanged and promises to touch base. I feel sad for the loss of all of us that knew him but grateful for the time shared. Our world lost a fine man. He made a difference in many lives. I loved his good nature and gentle manner. He will be missed. May you, his family and close friends, be soothed by memories.

I spent many Thanksgivings with Vasil and Eileen at their home...his greeting hug each year was as enthusiastic and genuine as he himself. May warm memories of him bring comfort to those closest to him...and the rest of us who will miss him.

For years we passed in the hall as he came into his work at FV Southdale. He always greeted me with a smile and a hello.

My dear Vasylyu- our friendship started in Slovakia and the years with their ups and downs did not erace the bond. We lit a candle in Winnipeg when we learned of your passing to a place without pain and suffering.

You will always be part of us.

Many years ago, I worked with Vasil at HCMC. I remember him as a good nurse with a warm heart and a great sense of humor. I know he struggled back then with a life threatening illness and won the battle. We were so grateful to have him back. Life moves on and so do people, so we lost touch, but I've never forgotten him. May he rest in peace.
