Dear Lahr Family: I only learned today of the death of Jon, through my friend Fr. Bill Murtaugh at Pax Christi. I remember Jon as a student of mine at Holy Angels 20 years ago, a very soft spoken and polite young man. Though I don't presume to have known him well, I am very sorry for the terrible loss that you are enduring right now. Your family will be in my prayers.

Stephen, Carole, Brian, Jeff:

I first want to tell you that my heart goes out to you and the rest of your family. John was a wonderful friend and person that had a great big heart as I'm sure you already know. I was one of his many friends that he would spend time with periodically. We developed a wonderful friendship based on his ability to laugh and have a good time no matter what we were doing.

John was my roommate from 2005 – 2006 after I bought my house in Burnsville. I got married in 2007 and had my first child and John subsequently moved in with another friend of his there after. I would still talk/hangout with John once in a blue moon as was the case with all of my friends because of my limited time due to my career and kids. John was a person who when you called, he would pickup the phone. When you needed a hand, he would be there for you. Those kinds of people are becoming harder to find nowadays.

Most people viewed John as a person who truly enjoyed spending time with others and his bubbly-charismatic personality always created a fun situation no matter where you were. Everyone liked John because he was a person who could get along with anyone and always had your best interest in mind. My brother, Dan Satter, lived with John in Eagan up until he bought his first home about a year ago. I have nothing but the best memories when I think back about the times that I spent with John and I'm really fortunate that I was able to spend the time that I did with him.

I felt compelled to write this letter to all of you even though we really don't personally know each other too well, because I feel it's very important for all of you to know how deeply John has touched people's lives.

My deepest condolences,

Mike Satter

I didn't know you as well as some, but you clearly made an impact on my life because my heart breaks knowing that you are now gone. My love goes out to all those dealing with this tremendous loss!
