Mark Barvin Obituary

Mark Barvin
1955-2016
On July 22, Mark Barvin, beloved husband, father, Zaide, brother, brother in law, cousin and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his lovingfamily.
Mark was born on August 4, 1955 in Houston, TX, the third child of Marcia and Bob Barvin. He loved growing up and living in Houston were he had many friends. On Nov. 28, 1982, he married the love of his life, Martha Weisberg of Huntington, WV and together they raised their three wonderful sons, Eric, Joshua and Daniel. On Dec. 18, 2016, he and the entire family celebrated the birth of his grandson, Benjamin.
Mark led a rich life. He first worked for his family's business, Houston Scrap, and then Service Wire Co and BG Construction. Mark's principal joys were his boys – watching them grow to become accomplished athletes, excellent students, caring and generous men. He was passionate about playing racquetball at the Jewish Community Center, attending services at Congregation Beth Israel, AIPAC and his love of Israel as well as movies, art, music, travels (especially to Israel), great food, shopping and playing with his dog, Ice. He loved hanging out with his many friends and family.
Appreciation for Hope Lipnick, Rabbi David Lyon, Rabbi Joshua Herman, Clergy and Staff at Congregation Beth Israel for guiding us through Mark's journey. He had the best medical care in Houston to fight his illness. Our wonderful caregivers gave Mark the most professional and loving care - Jakki Brewer, Tiffianee Brewer, Chris Bunger, Matry Session, Veronica Strulovich, Julia Turkel, Michael Brooks and Phil Goldstein. Many thanks to Service Wire Company and BG Construction for their prayers and support during these last seven months.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife Martha, his sons, Eric, Joshua and Daniel, his daughter-in- law Olivia, his soon to be daughter-in- law Kaori Matsui, his grandson Benjamin, sister, Cynthia, mother-in- law Joan Weisberg as well as many brother and sister-in- laws and cousins. Mark's parents Marcia and Bob, father–in-law Art Weisberg, older brother, Bill and younger sister Paula predeceased him. Mark's memory will be cherished by all the members of the Barvin, Rolnick and Weisberg families as well as by his many wonderful friends.
Donations in Mark's memory may be made to Congregation Beth Israel – Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center (www.Beth-Israel.rg), Jewish Community Center Health Club (erjcchouston.org), Honest Reporting (www.honestreporting.com) and AIPAC (www.AIPAC.com)

Mark was always the most cheerful and happiest person, every time I was around him. He will be sorely missed. But, his memory will truly be a blessing and, for me, will always bring a smile.
