It is with sadness that we share the passing of Adelle Abramson Shaw. Adelle passed peacefully on the evening of May 4, 2018 in her home in Houston, Texas after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. She was 74. Adelle was a real estate broker in both Texas and Louisiana. She was a member of the Houston Association of Realtors and participated actively in the Houston Independent Real Estate Broker's Association (HIREBA). She earned her Bachelor of Art's degree from Newcomb College, now part of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She earned a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Houston. Adelle lived in Houston for over 50 years. She was a strong and capable businesswoman and dealt with numerous residential and commercial real estate transactions over her long career, including throughout her difficult illness. She was a dignified and private person who valued civility and decorum, and she was fiercely independent. She was an active supporter of many causes in Houston including Child Builders, the Children's Defense Fund, and the Buffalo Bayou Partnership. She was also a supporter of the Houston Ballet and Houston Symphony and a regular attendee of arts performances. Adelle was the daughter of Mary and Sam Abramson of Shreveport, Louisiana, and her parents precede her in death. Adelle is survived by her husband of 49 years Dr. LeRoy B. Shaw, her son Dr. Erik Tabakin Shaw who practices at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia and Dr. Chad Abramson Shaw of Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor Genetics here in Houston. Adelle is also survived by her daughters-in-law Mrs. Lali Hughes Shaw and Mrs. Anat Kelman Shaw. Adelle cherished her five grandchildren Noa, Ella, Livia, Talia and new baby Wex. Her children and grandchildren will sorely miss her southern style and mannerisms as well as her grit and determination. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 11, 2018 at Houston Congregation for Reform Judaism, 801 Bering Drive, Houston, 77057. Donations in Adelle's honor can be made to the Children's Defense Fund and the Buffalo Bayou Partnership as well as to the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
