GRANGER, IN - Dr. Allen Eugene “Gene” Forry left this life for the next on October 10, 2018, at the age of 72. His life is celebrated by his five children and their spouses: Shawn and Andrea Forry, Shannon and Kelsey Forry, Steve and Heather Forry, Brent and Trisha Forry, and Melissa (Forry) and Kris Konold. One of his great joys was playing with his eleven grandchildren, Michael, Julianna, Etta, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Lucas, Jackson, Alexa, Ava, Parker, and Grayson. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Christine (Wielgos) Forry; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sue Forry and their extended family.

Born March 3, 1946 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to Melvin and Kathryn Forry, Gene spent most of his life in Indiana. He attended Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis where a highlight was playing trumpet at JFK's Inaugural Parade. After receiving his undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University, he served as a doctor in the U.S. Navy and later as a radiologist for more than three decades. When he wasn't reading books on history, giving treats to the many Forry pets, sneaking chocolates, or joyfully washing the family cars, Gene treasured vacationing with his extended family, often to Walt Disney World. Most of all, he reveled in his kids' and grandkids' happiness and success.

A Memorial Service will take place at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, in Granger, Indiana on Saturday, November 10, at 10:30 am. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am.
