I was in Boy Scout Troop 89 with Tom and his brother Joe. Tom was quiet, but was very friendly, kind and loved to laugh. He was one with nature and even at a young age was very much his own person. I remember his warm smile most of all. Condolences to his family and loved ones.

In late 2004 I donated to an event held in Oregon by the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce. In exchange, I received a flag and a wooden marker with the name of a fallen soldier. The name is Sgt. Thomas D Robbins. It has been in storage until recently and I would like to mail the flag & wooden marker to the family, if possible. Thank you for your sacrifice & service to our country.

I never met your son, but I am grateful for him. My son got out of the unit and your son replaced him. I carry your son's picture with me wherever I go. I remember him and honor him every memorial day. May you be blessed and comforted and covered in our Heavenly Father's love & mercy.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Robbins Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.

Charlene,

As I go through and sign each of our heroes tribute I failed to sign Thomas'. We have met a few years ago at the Ceremony for David in Albany. I'm sure you do not remember me. I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and Thomas shall never be forgotten.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

Every second you sacrificed
I hold you in my prayers.
So with one hand on my heart and the other in the air;

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

Sgt. Robbins was one of the better NCO's of A Troop 1/14 cav. He pushed us enlisted guys to do our best, he used to say, that was the least we should expect from ourselves, nothing but the best. Sgt Robbins will be missed by myself and others. He was not only a superior to me but also a friend, that would halt what ever it was he was doing to make sure that i knew excactly how to complete whatever my current goal was at that time. He's one of those people you could model your own life around. I'll miss you bro, excuse me i mean i'll miss you Seargent.

I knew Tom from the the time he attended SUNY Cobleskill. We were both in the same major and Tom was a transfer student from Morrisville. Being a transfer he didn't know very many people and was quite quiet. I believe that Tom was a quiet person to begin with. My first experience with Tom was on a field trip to conduct a waterfowl capture field lab with NYS DEC. The field trip went well and everyone enjoyed themselves. On the trip back everyone was discussing the morning and Tom was his usual quite self. By chance a large bug had hitched a ride on to the bus. This beetle was 2 inches long and was black and yellow. Everyone was looking at it like it was something poisonous or that could bite. Tom, very humbly said "It's a Locust Borer, they don't bite" He then proceeded to grab the beetle show it to me and some nearby folks and then let it go out the window. I was amazed in numerous ways. First that he knew what it was, secondly the the calmness of his manner, thirdly the compassion to respect the creature and let it go. This moment sounds simple, but to me it was almost life changing. I have since become a biologist with the state of Florida identifying primarily plants, but also insects, fish, birds and mammals as the main focus of my job. Tom's attitude, humble manner and quest for knowledge inspires me to this day. I remained friends with Tom while we attended Cobleskill and I think I was one of the few that he could talk to about his discoveries of nature. I wish I had kept in contact with him after college. I was greatly upset to hear of his passing. I was also proud to see that he had a family and joined the Army. From what I knew of Tom, I could imagine that, he was so quiet and reserved. He will be missed, but never forgotten. I hope this reaches someone that also knew Tom and brings them a smile. He was an inspiration to me in many ways.

Dear Family of Thomas D. Robbins, I did not know your son, grandson, husband, father, brother, cousin, or uncle. He was many things to many people. To me, a perfect stranger, he was and always will be a hero. Thank God for brave men like him who protect freedom and answer duty's call. May God's abundant love shower your family with many blessings for years to come. As Good Friday approaches, we celebrate the ultimate sacrifice...the laying down one's life for the good of others. May Thomas' sacrifice not be in vein, but let us always remember that we are free because of a brave savior in Jesus Christ and because of brave soldiers, like Thomas. Our earthly and spiritual freedom have been won by the sacrifice of others.
