Charles Wright Memoriam

In Loving Memory of

CHARLES W "CHUCK" WRIGHT III

1943-2020

Charles W (Chuck) Wright III was born in Houston on December 23, 1943 and left his earthly form on July 24, 2020. Chuck was a guiding light to his family and dearly loved by family and friends. Chuck is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joy, his son Charles W. Wright IV, "Rusty" and wife Carrie, his sister Susan Parish, as well as step children that he raised as his own – Roy Thompson and wife Tamara, Darlene Howe, Terry Thompson, and Judy Savage. His love and devotion to his two fur babies Zip and Sammy was something special. Chuck graduated from Lamar High School and spent many years as a proud Eagle Scout. Chuck never met a stranger and made friends all over the world!

Chuck was an accomplished Operator Engineer who loved his work and would often brag about being paid to "play on big toys"! His career took him all over the US and abroad, building such land marks as Greenway Plaza, Terminal "C" at Intercontinental Airport, the great Beltway 8 Flyover at I-10, along with many bridges in Nevada and California. He was a very humble and honest man who gave generously to multiple causes dear to his heart. He truly loved motorcycles and he and Joy logged many miles on two wheels riding with the Goldwing Road Riders and Sierra Eagles! When they moved back to Houston, Chuck and Rusty shared many rides together, and Chuck was so proud to be part of his son's life! He was a self-proclaimed "avid hunter" but he really just enjoyed the outdoors more than the hunt, although he was a "crack shot" when it came to shooting! He skied many mountains across the US and rafted most of the rivers in the western US! Chuck was an excellent handyman and mechanic, and could fix most anything you put in front of him! He enjoyed an Irish whiskey and we are sure he would leave us all with this thought (in his Irish accent). "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal".

Chuck was not just a good man, he was your friend from the very first meet. Honored to have known him, and happy in the fact we got to spend times together shooting, family bbq’s, birthdays and holidays. Thank you for nothing but awesome memories!

I know it’s not easy for a man to raise a child and there is no way I could’ve paid you back. I always wanted you to know how much I appreciated you. It doesn’t matter how far I go in life I will always be your “baby boy” and you will always be my dad my hero, I love you, your son!
