I had the privilege of being Brian's faculty advisor during his preliminary medicine and categorical medicine residencies--before he decided on radiology and before he wore bowties. His lively banter and sense of humor always made our meetings less like work and more like social time, and I always looked forward to talking with him. As a colleague, he was a joy to work with, bringing knowledge and insight whenever I consulted him. His loss will be felt by many.
