Heather M. Copen, 50, passed away peacefully March 6. 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer for 2.5 years. Born in Ravenna, Ohio to Don Hanan and Joyce Tymcio Hanan, she resided most of her life in Rootstown, Ohio. Heather worked as an LPN. She was an animal lover who enjoyed crocheting, gardening, maintaining her flower beds, decorating for holidays (especially Halloween) and spending time with her family and friends.
Heather was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Betty (Walter) Tymcio, Blanche (Donald) Hanan; sister-in-law, Tammy Bauerbach. Heather will be sadly missed by her husband of 23 years, Tim Copen; daughters, Triniti (Trent) Gibson, Summer Hayes, Skylar Hayes; grandchildren, Karson, Wyatt, Charlie; parents, Don Hanan, Joyce Hanan; siblings, Don (Amy) Hanan, Kelly Hanan; sister-in-law, Tina (Wayne) Jenior; nieces, Ashley Proudfoot, Ashley Jenior, Riley, Brandi, Morgan; nephews, Corey, Cody; great niece and great nephews; lifelong friend, Nita; her beloved animals, Bella, Oliver, Tigger, Mama; her ducks; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Akron Cancer Center and Affinity Hospice for their loving care of Heather.
The family will have a celebration of Heather's life at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Heather's name to the Portage Animal Protective League (APL).
