Robert "Butch" Graham, a beloved figure in his family and community, passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on August 4, 1945, Butch lived a life filled with passion for sports, family, and the great outdoors.
He cherished his time spent watching Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football, and held a soft spot for all Cleveland sporting teams. Butch was known for his excitement and enthusiasm for the games, sharing countless memories with his loved ones. In addition to his love for sports, he enjoyed fishing, creating lasting memories by the water. An avid gambler, he found joy in playing cards, often surrounded by family and friends.
A talented athlete himself, Butch had a knack for pitching and even made his mark as a referee in basketball and football. His hobbies were a testament to his vibrant personality and love for competition. A simple pleasure that brought him happiness was savoring fried potatoes with onions and grilling lake Erie perch, often enjoyed in the company of family.
Butch is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Graham; his son, Jason Graham; and his daughter, Julie Orr. Butch relished in his role as a grandfather to Trevor Orr, who brought great joy to his life. He is also remembered fondly by his sisters, Darlene Brown and Ruth Allen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Graham; mother, Grace Donahue; sister, Cheryl Hopkins; and brothers, David and Richard Graham. Butch was also mourned by the loss of his grandson, Tyler Orr.
A visitation will be held on March 16, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 131 N Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH, starting at 2:15 PM and concluding at 3:15 PM.
Butch Graham will be remembered not only for his love of sports and family but also for the kindness and laughter he shared with those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
