Cecelia SIMS Obituary
Cecelia Sims of Columbus, OH, transitioned from her earthly life on March 31, 2021, at the age of 72. Originally from Springfield, OH, Cecelia and her husband Gary shared 53 years together raising their family and creating lasting friendships in Columbus. She
retired from AT&T (formerly Ohio Bell) and later worked as a human resources manager for National Church Residences (formerly Heritage Day Health Centers). Cecelia was a faithful member of Faith Ministries Church in Columbus. Left to cherish her memory, Cecelia is
survived by her mother Ida Sutton; two children, son G.
Christopher (Dawn) Sims and daughter Dana (Mark Wilder) Sims; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and other
relatives and close family friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary, sister Tracee Sutton, brother Leroy
Sutton, Jr., and father Leroy Sutton. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St.,
Columbus, OH, where there will be a public viewing at 9am on Thursday, April 8, 2021, immediately followed by a funeral service at 10am. All visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering according to current public health guidelines. A Celebration of Life Service will be streamed online. Cecelia was my classmate and neighborhood friend. We grew up right around the corner from each other. She was brilliant and a vibrant friend who will be missed.

On March 31, 2021 our Sister and friend Cecelia Sims transitioned from her earthly life. Sister Cecelia was a faithful member of Faith Ministries Church and dedicated her life to serve others. Sister Cecelia served as leader of the Senior Faith Ministries Church food distribution outreach ministry and she assisted Rev. Ben and Pam Morris at the Faith Ministries Church East worship program at the Ashford. Assisted Living facility..
On behalf of the Faith Ministries Church Food Distribution Program and Faith Ministries Church East at the Ashford Assisted Living facility, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Sister Cecelia. Words cannot express the sorrow that we feel about the loss of our Sister and friend. She worked very diligently to help people. We will miss her smile, "Can Do" spirit, and unyielding desire to meet the needs of humanity.
Sister Cecelia will have a "Celebration of Life" tomorrow at Diehl Whittaker Funeral Home , viewing will begin from 9-10 a.m. and the service will begin at 10:00a.m. by invitation only. The service can be viewed on the funeral homes webcast site.
