Ivan Chasnoff Obituary
Ivan Chasnoff, 74, of Hamden, devoted husband of 53 years to Hyla (Magun) Chasnoff, died at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Born in Chicago, IL, on Nov. 7, 1946, Ivan was the son of the late (Eugene and Renee Chasnoff). Beloved father of Lori Flaks (Jeffrey Flaks) and Brian Chasnoff. Dear brother of Hilary Chasnoff (Chuck Herring). Cherished grandfather of Justin and Jared Flaks. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews with special affection to Jackson and Landon Magun. Ivan had a special love for his many brothers and sisters in-law. He operated the New England Grinding Company, a family business where he worked along side his father for many years. Numerous special relationships and bonds were formed through his life's work. Ivan was a member of the New Haven/Hamden Probus Club and Club Corvette of CT. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a truly good friend and much beloved by many. Funeral Services will be held at B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, 200 Wintergreen Ave., New Haven, on WEDNESDAY morning at 11:00 o'clock. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517 or the CT Food Bank in Wallingford, CT. Funeral Arrangements in care of Robert E. My family My dad Domenic Giannotti and brother Dom jr and I Kyle, loved Ivan and we will sure miss him coming down the store talking and fixing whatever broke that day. We are so sorry for your loss. Ivan extended himself in friendship without hesitation. He was warm and inviting with an engaging sense of humor. He gave me a sense of acceptance without knowing me and that made him special for me and unforgettable. Without knowing him deeply, it was great knowing him in the short time we met.
