Growing up in Highland Park was a unique and special experience. As I grow older, I am realizing just exactly how unique and special it was. Lois Tompkins and her husband, Bob, served as surrogate parents to a number of the kids in the neighborhood, including me. Mr. Tompkins helped me start a stamp collection, which I still have. We kids played at their home with Becky and Rob. The Tompkins' hosted float building for the homecoming parades. I recall there were always Hostess Ho Ho's and Hostess Cupcakes at the Tompkins residence! Both Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins made life much better for me. Mrs. Tompkins, Becky, my mother and I continued to visit over the years. Our lunches at El Mariachi were filled with reminiscing and laughter. Mrs. Tompkins was simply a kind, caring person, who made others feel better about themselves while placing herself second. She will be missed. God bless the family. You are all in my prayers, and you are loved. With deepest sympathy, Jim Soupene

Mrs. Thompson was my second grade teacher at Lincoln elementary, in 1987. I remember her very well, and I'm 40 now. She was very sweet, and kind to all of us students. I don't remember all of my teachers, but I sure remember her. So sad to see she passed, and my prayers are with her family and friends.

Becky and Rob your Mom was as sweet as they come. Lois was truly a friend and a neighbor that will be hard to be replaced. I am so glad that I visited with her while we were in the hall at Westover. Becky, have tried to reach out but no success. Have my physical problems, again, but let me know what I can do to help, please. My sympathy. May God bless. Love, Beth
