Stephen Clark Obituary

Stephen Grant Clark
January 3, 1945 - December 25, 2021
Stephen (Steve) Grant Clark passed away suddenly on December 25, 2021 in Novato, where he lived for 51 years. He was the beloved husband of Tina (Friscia) Clark, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Steve was a San Francisco native, born to Marleita and Louis Clark. He was raised in the Sunset District of San Francisco and spent summer vacations in St. Helena during his childhood with his brother Tom, grandmother and cousins. He attended Lincoln High School and at the age of 16, Steve met his lifelong soulmate, Tina. After high school he served in the Army Reserves, got married to Tina and in 1971 moved his family to Novato.

Steve made his living in the seafood industry, where he worked at A. Friscia Seafoods for 40 years. He was known as "Big Steve", the fish guy, at Fisherman's Wharf. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being a member of Jordano's Pheasant Club in Sonoma, where he made wonderful memories with long time hunting friends and family. He loved spending time outdoors, had a knack for crafting and wood building and was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Giants and Warriors. The pride and joy of his life was his family, his daughters Denise and Karen, watching his four grandsons grow up, attending their sporting events, spending time in Sonoma and vacationing with family in Lake Tahoe, Hawaii and taking cruises. Steve will be remembered by family and friends for his big stature, kind and generous nature, quick wit, outgoing personality and huge heart. He made everyone around him laugh and smile.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Tina, his adored children Denise (Rob) Gewecke and Karen (Doug) Wilhelm and grandsons: Brian and Dominic Gewecke and Grant and Zachary Wilhelm. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Tony (Linda) Friscia, sister-in-law Colleen Clark, and nieces and nephews: Lisa, Tommy, Kris, Anton, Michelle, Christopher and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother and best friend Tom Clark, his parents Louis and Marleita Clark and Carl, Natalie and Marc Friscia.

The Memorial Mass that was supposed to be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 is now postponed. Will follow up with a new date when it's been established.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Steve my fellow Irishman. You will be missed by many. And to his family I feel your pain and I'm so sorry for your loss. You now have a special Guardian Angel to look after you. I guess God needed a strong Irishman to help him. He couldn't have picked a better man. RIP Steve.

This man was larger than life-in stature, in voice, and in smile. I can´t get out of the habit of looking for his big wave as I drive by the house. He is sorely missed.
