We competed against Scott (& Craig) in HS, so I was thrilled to be teammates with them at Ball State. I have fond memories of Scott. This is very sad news.

Scott was a classmate and teammate of mine at Ball State. He was a big man in size, but his heart was bigger. I always wished I would see him again at an outing. Praise God for his faith. May God rest his soul, and bless his beautiful family.

I had the pleasure to meet Scott in 1977. He was a terrific competitor and a great teammate. His wit and humorous nature kept us laughing on long road trips. He will be missed by his Cardinal brothers. RIP ya big Teddy Bear.

Dear Family, my name is Ken Kremer and I played football with Scott at Ball State. He was a very tough competitor who worked hard every day at practice and was a friend to everyone on the team. Its a tragedy this has happened. My heartfelt prayers go out to your entire family. God speed Scott! Kraut

It is with great sadness I´ve read Scott Newburg has passed away. Having been allowed to coach peewee football with Scott was and is a great memory of my life. Scott stood out for his calm way of teaching the boys WITHOUT a raised voice. He never wore long pants, even during the coldest practices/games. He taught the team what "leapers" were but it was just nicer when he assigned them.
I cant speak to his home life except what Jonah was like. There had to be some good parenting because a more respectful player couldn´t be found.
I know my son Jeffrey, appreciated all the coaching Scott gave; despite Jeff being on the wrong side of the ball. Everyone is hurting because of this loss of this family man, educator, friend . . . We have all been enriched to have known him.
