Horace Taylor Obituary

Horace M. Taylor of San Antonio, Texas and Deer Isle, Maine, and who was known by his immediate family and many of his friends as Marc, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday night, October 25, 2022. Marc was born on April 15, 1942, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Ernest and Doshie Taylor, both of whom preceded him in death. Marc grew up alongside his older brothers, Hobart, Eugene, and Coy, and his older sister, Hazel Harrison, all who preceded him in death, and his sole surviving, younger sister, Joann Paxton. During the Vietnam war, Marc joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country. After his tour of duty, he continued his education receiving both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business.

During his eighty years, Marc made many life-long friends, and he mentored many as an owner/operator of his trucking/ transportation businesses. In the professional world, Marc is best remembered as a hard-working, fair, and forward-looking entrepreneur and employer, and one who always created a competitive edge for his businesses by being a great leader and constantly pushing the limits of what was available in the industry.

He loved his family and family life above all else. Marc married the love of his life, Judith Jordan, in 1976, and they remained happily in love for the 46 years they shared. They have two sons, Austin and Justin, and Marc was actively involved in all aspects of their lives. While they attended Central Catholic High School, he served as a member of the booster club, and raised substantial sums to support the Buttons' athletic programs. In his free time, he coached and spent endless amounts of time with his sons and their many friends. He was a friend and a role model for so many young adults growing up around their home. These childhood friends still share many memories of their time and experiences with Marc, and they all agree he was the most memorable Father they met. Austin and Justin greatly admired their father, and both followed in his footsteps by building their own successful businesses in the trucking and transportation industry.

Marc took great pride and joy in watching all his sons grow up and start their own families and build their own successful careers. He is survived by his son, Randall Trusty and his family from Corinth, Texas, and his son, Michael Trusty and his family from Jamesport, Missouri. His son, Marc Avery Trusty of Frederick Oklahoma, preceded him in death. Marc is survived by 10 grandchildren, Jordan, Mia, Chloe, Jackson, Blake, Tyler, Tory Beth, Taylor, Tristan, and Justin, and 6 great-grandchildren along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Marc loved dogs, and during his life he raised a number of them. Among his favorites were his little dachshunds, Bubba Schnitz, Buster, and Gracie Anne. His favorite hobby was flying, and Marc earned both his private and commercial license. He also loved boating, and he spent many years on his boat at Canyon Lake soaking in the sun and enjoying the company of his wife, friends, and family. When he retired, he and his wife spent most of their time at their home at Deer Isle, Maine. Here, he witnessed the seasons change while he watched the ocean rise and fall from his favorite chair overlooking an amazing view of Cat Cove and the Atlantic Ocean. He lived a very full, successful, and happy life, and everyone who met Marc immediately recognized his big heart and admired his loving and giving nature. He was a man that everyone loved and respected. He will be greatly missed by his wife, his sons, his grandchildren, and everyone who knew him. While his death leaves a huge void in so many lives, the joy he spread and the wisdom he shared with so many will continue to live on and will ensure that Marc Taylor is never forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

A service celebrating Marc's life will be held at the Porter Loring North, located at 2102 N Loop 1604 E San Antonio, TX 78232 on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 12:00 pm, followed by an interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Marc and family for over 30 years as he was my neighbor. I especially am grateful to Marc and Judy for watching over my parents to the end, and for being there for my mom after my dad passed. To Judy, Austin, and Justin, your husband/father was a great man. He was always pleasant and could easily carry a conversation. He was a joy and he will be missed. I wish you all strength and peace during this difficult time. My prayers to you all and God bless!
